Xiaomi to rebrand its premium product series from ‘Mi’ to ‘Xiaomi’

September 15, 2021 by T3 India

While the corporate brand will continue to be represented by the well-known ‘Mi’ logo, Xiaomi India have today announced with an aim to unify its global presence and close the perception gap between the brand, Xiaomi’s premium ‘Mi’ series products will now be replaced with the new ‘Xiaomi’ logo.

However, ‘Redmi’ will continue with the same brand logo and the new naming convention, Xiaomi and Redmi, will be applied across both brands’ TVs, Laptops, and IoT offerings. Thus, with the new brand identity, Xiaomi plans to offer two distinct product series under the parent corporate brand – which will continue to represented by the ‘Mi’ logo, which had undergone a few changes earlier this year by adopting a softer, rounder contour on the corners of the previously square-shaped logo.

Commenting on the announcement Jaskaran Singh Kapany, Head of Marketing, Xiaomi India, said, “As a consumer-centric brand, our focus has always been on bringing new and innovative technology across segments that cater to the consumers evolving needs. We have been receiving an excellent response for our premium product range from consumers and Xiaomi fans. According to CounterPoint in May 2021, Xiaomi India captured ~14% market share in the 20K-45K category. This empowered us to push the boundaries of technology and innovation further to elevate the consumer experience.”

“Being a leading technology brand with a strong presence across the globe, our aim is to have a unified presence. With this new logo shift, we envision bridging the perception gap between our brand and products. The new Xiaomi logo will be used for our premium products that represent the pinnacle of technology and offer a premium experience. Ushering in the festive season, Xiaomi’s premium product series ‘Mi’ will be renamed to ‘Xiaomi’”, the press release mentions.

Xiaomi aims that this new identity will propel the brand forward in the near future.

Redmi K30 Ultra 5G is an affordable phone with premium features

August 19, 2020 by T3 India

Xiaomi unveiled the new Redmi K30 Ultra 5G which is raises the bar of its value-phones and the competiveness in the market for such smartphones to the next level. Xiaomi went all-out with the announcement of the K30 Ultra, the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition, and the Mi 10 Ultra. The K30 Ultra does pack in some stellar features, and for the price, there is no doubt that this smartphone will sell in numbers in the days to come.

The 5G Redmi K30 Ultra is equipped by the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ 5G processor which consists of the latest ARM Cortex-A77 and Mali-G77 cores. Perched at the top of the table on ETH Zurich AI-Benchmark rankings, the K30 Ultra uses a six-core independent APU 3.0 that enhances its AI functionality.

Games run smoothly through the ‘Hyper Engine 2.0’ and ‘Game Turbo’ engines. Viewing content and gameplay is further enhanced through the 6.67” AMOLED display – which is crafted from Samsung E3 AMOLED material – delivering a FHD+ resolution of 2400×1800 and offering a refresh rate of 120Hz along with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen also offers a 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, HDR10+ support, and a brightness that scales up to 800 to 1200 nits based on the mode.

When it comes to photography, the K30 Ultra sports a quad-camera setup in its rear with a 64MP main camera which supports the ‘four-in-one 1.6 micrometer large pixels’ for sharper photographs. A 13MP 119-degree ultra-wide angle camera, 5MP telemacro lens and a 2MP depth sensor for portraits make up the remaining cameras. Of course, there are a host of AI-driven features that can change the dynamics of an image through a single touch. The K30 Ultra also has a 20MP ‘pop-up’ front camera that supports 120fps slow motion capture too.

Redmi K30 Ultra also has a unique feature, through it’s three microphones – that allows users to ‘zoom’ in on the sound along with the image while recording videos. This helps users to capture much clearer sound even if they’re a little away from the source.

It seems like the K30 Ultra would perform well under heavy GPU/CPU loads as well, because it has been integrated with a 3495 sq. mm vapour chamber which works in tandem with a graphene and graphite 3D heat dissipation system. Additionally, the K30 Ultra is also equipped with a 4500mAh battery and a 33W fast-charging tech that can charge the phone completely within an hour.

The Redmi K30 Ultra is available in three colours: Moonlight White, Midnight Black, and Mint Green. It comes in four storage variants, the 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB and the 8GB+512GB.

The smartphone’s release date in India is yet to be disclosed. For more information, please visit this page.
