BenQ PD2706QN monitor- Review

Words: Shubham Raheja

As I became a standalone video creator, my workflow has evolved. I’ve realized the monitor I use actually needs to be the operating hub of my entire desk. After integrating the BenQ PD2706QN, it’s clear this display is designed to address that exact shift, moving beyond just “good visuals” to solving the logistical friction of a creative workspace.

I have to start with the connectivity because it’s the most immediate quality-of-life improvement. The inclusion of the 90W USB-C port is brilliant. In the past, docking a MacBook meant dealing with a separate power brick, a dongle for data, and an HDMI cable for display. With this monitor, I plug in one cable, and my laptop charges at full speed while transmitting video and data. It cleans up the desk significantly, and for someone who hates cable clutter, this is a major win.

Moving on to the panel itself, it’s a 27-inch QHD (2K) display. For my work, specifically video editing and timeline management, 2K at 27 inches is the sweet spot for pixel density. I don’t have to use scaling, and the UI elements in editing software look sharp without being microscopic.

The color accuracy out of the box is impressive. BenQ claims 95% P3 coverage, and to my eye, the calibration holds up. When I’m color-grading footage or designing thumbnails, I trust what I’m seeing. The 100Hz refresh rate is also a welcome bump. It’s not “gaming high refresh,” but it makes scrubbing through timelines and general UI navigation feel much smoother than the standard 60Hz panels I’ve used in offices for years.

Another feature I appreciate is the KVM switch. Since I often switch between a Windows PC for gaming and a Mac for daily tasks, being able to use a single keyboard and mouse across both systems without replugging anything is a massive time saver.

The monitor also has built-in speakers. While they are functional for system alerts, they are tinny and lack the depth required for video editing or media consumption. I expected slightly better audio, but you’ll definitely need external speakers or headphones if you’re serious about sound.

We’re impressed:
The 90W USB-C port that handles power, data, and video in a single cable.

We’d improve:
The built-in speakers—they are functional but lack depth.

The last word:
The BenQ PD2706QN doesn’t feel like it’s trying to sell me on gimmicks. It feels like a tool. The industrial design is clean, the stand is sturdy, and the feature set—specifically the 90W charging and color accuracy—addresses the actual needs of a creator. It’s a pragmatic, high-performance investment for your workflow.
