Motorola launches Signature – Interview with Prashanth Mani

T3 India Interviewed Prashanth Mani, Vice President, Motorola Asia Pacific, post-launch event of the Motorola Signature.

T3 India: Prashanth this is a massive shift for the brand. What prompted Motorola to re-enter the premium segment with such a “Signature” statement now?
Prashanth Mani: It’s the right time for us. Over the last two years, we’ve seen incredible growth in India, moving into the top six or seven brands with about 8% market share. Our community has been asking for a non-foldable flagship that doesn’t compromise. The “Signature” series isn’t just a phone; it’s a new category replacing the Edge series at the top.

T3 India: The design is incredibly thin—6.99mm. How did you manage to pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a 5,200mAh battery into something this slim?
Prashanth Mani: It was a challenge of engineering and materials. We used aircraft-grade aluminum and a copper-mesh liquid metal cooling system, we call it Arctic Mesh, to handle the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The battery is a high-density silicon-carbon cell, which allows for that slim 6.99mm profile without sacrificing the 41-hour battery life.

T3 India: Let’s talk cameras. Three 50MP Sony LYTIA sensors. That’s a bold hardware choice.
Prashanth Mani: Exactly. We wanted to lead in imaging. It’s the world’s only triple Sony LYTIA system with 8K Dolby Vision recording. We’ve already achieved a DXOMARK Gold Label, which puts us in the top tier globally.

T3 India: Finally, the “Signature Club.” It seems you’re selling more than just hardware.
Prashanth Mani: Yes, it’s a “service-first” luxury experience. Signature owners get 24×7 concierge-style assistance for travel, dining, and exclusive clubs. We are also committing to 7 years of OS and security updates to ensure the phone stays relevant. It offers white-glove assistance for luxury lifestyle needs like travel and dining, plus a welcome benefit worth ₹6,000.

T3 India: What are the pricing and availability details?
Prashanth Mani: The Motorola Signature starts at ₹59,999 (effective price ₹54,999 with offers) and goes up to ₹69,999 for the 1TB variant. It’s available now on Flipkart and retail stores.
