Seagate launches One Touch SSD – a high-capacity portable storage solution

August 15, 2021 by T3 India

World-renowned data storage solution provider, Seagate Technology has launched the new Seagate One Touch SSD which strives to offer top performance speeds in its stylish and portable design. Technology enthusiasts and creators can enjoy efficient and quick transfers to streamline their production processes and know that their works are in safe hands.

The Seagate One Touch SSD offers USB compatibility out of the box (exFAT formatted) and is operational with USB-C and USB 3.0 computers through its USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C technology. The cables are included in the box, and the One Touch SSD is also compatible with Android mobile devices through the Seagate Mobile Touch app.

The One Touch SSD offers shock-resistance from a drop height of up to 2 meters and is designed with an aluminium top cover and fabric-soft touch on the sides. The One Touch SSD comes with maximum sequential read/write speeds of up to 1030 MB/s and with up to 2TB of storage capacity. The sleek SSD includes Seagate’s Toolkit desktop software with Sync Plus offering file sync via continuous backup.

In June 2021, Seagate had also launched the One Touch HDD which is a high-capacity portable storage device too, created to provide easy access to users who need a durable and dependable data-storage solution.

More importantly, Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Services provide a defence mechanism against data loss and retrieval costs in Seagate’s One Touch portfolio. The drives are also packaged with a one-year complimentary subscription to Mylio Create and a four-month complimentary membership to Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan.

The Seagate One Touch SSD is available on Amazon, Flipkart and all authorised reseller partners and is priced at Rs. 7,699 for 500GB, Rs. 13,399 for 1TB, and Rs. 26,999 for 2TB.

The new Seagate Exos Corvault is a Self-Healing Block Storage System

July 6, 2021 by T3 India

Seagate has pioneered several unique data storage solutions and now it has added the Exos Corvault to its portfolio of mass-capacity storage devices. The Exos Corvault is designed to streamline data management and reduce human intervention for data centre environments.

Seagate’s breakthrough storage architecture is integrated with the sixth generation VelosCT ASIC ADAPT erasure code data protection technology and the Autonomous Drive Regeneration feature. The Exos Corvault is built with the maximum-density 4U chassis which accommodates 106 drives within a rack space of 7 inches or 18cm. The Exos Corvault is designed on Seagate’s Exos 12Gb/s platform. It also offers “five nines” i.e. 99.999% helping to deliver consistently high reliability.

The system offers 14GB/s sequential read throughput, 12GB/s sequential write throughput and can be managed through a web-based GUI or command line interface (CLI) as well. Hard drives are self-encrypting, and secure file transfers are guaranteed through SFTP.

The Exos Corvault is protected against vibrational and acoustic interference, heat, and power irregularities in order to maximise drive performance. The aforementioned VelosCT chip powers the system’s dual storage controllers whereas the ADAPT technology i.e. Advanced Distributed Autonomic Protection Technology – distributes data across every drive offering advanced data protection and faster rebuilds.

Eliminating the need for a manual drive swap, the Autonomous Drive Regeneration (ADR) is a self-correcting system that renews a drive in-situ. ADR drives can be renewed, thereby reducing its environmental impact as well.

The Exos Corvault will be available globally through qualified Seagate distributors in July. For more information, please visit this page.

10TB Solid State Drives are a reality

February 18, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

Intel and Micron have been working together on several storage technologies like the 3D Xpoint with their most recent collaboration being the most significant. Thanks to Micron’s 3D NAND flash memory, the 4TB SSD barrier has been broken by the unveiling of a 10TB SSD.

This breakthrough comes after both companies were in agreement about how planar NAND flash had reached its limit with 4TB SSD storage. Micron has developed the first floating gate cell design for 3D NAND allowing capacities of 256GB for multi level cell and 384GB for triple level cell die. The technology also offers considerable gains in read/write and I/O speed.

The enterprise drive is expected to hit the market later this year. While a 13TB SSD is available from Fixstars, the $13,000 price tag makes it cost prohibitive and extremely limited to a select few users.
