Why haven’t I heard of Centric till now?
Well, Centric is a relatively new entrant in the market owned by Priyanka Telecom, a Mumbai-based company. They made their debut in February early this year with a slew of devices.
Judging by the looks, they put their best foot forward.
Definitely agree as it exudes a premium look with its solid build. The removable back cover is outfitted with a sandstone finish heightening the attractiveness. And if that isn’t enough, you can attach the flexi protector case which keeps the body secure on on all sides thanks to raised edges while also having the extra benefit of a better grip.
Hold on. Did you just say a removable cover?
Yes, we did. A rarity in this day and age for sure but there you have it! You can easily replace the battery if need be and even better is that dual-SIM operation can be done it tandem with a microSD card slot. No more swapping woes to face.
Great news. So what makes the G1 tick?
The Centric G1 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor paired with 3GB RAM and Mali-T720 graphics which should be adequate for multitasking with productivity apps.
And the software? Please tell me no unnecessary apps are installed.
You’ll be happy to know that aside from a few pre-installed Centric apps, bloatware has been kept to a minimum. The interface is also running on a near stock Android Marshmallow without any
annoying UI on top.
So have they added any special features?
A few. Notably, there is Turbo Download that uses your Wi-Fi and mobile data connection in tandem to download files quicker. You can also configure gestures to open up applications when drawn on a locked screen which can also be woken up with a double tap.
Nothing about the camera?
The 8MP rear camera with LED flash and 5MP front camera should suffice for casual photography or occasional selfies.
What all do I get in the box?
All the essentials like charger, data cable, user manual, earphone, back cover and even a screen guard. Everything you need is provided in the box!
