Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) announced at MWC 2017 that is collaborating with Tata Communications to work on India’s first Low Power Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN).
The LoRaWAN is able to support low cost, mobile and secure communication. This move is a part of Tata’s strategy of creating mobile platforms and ecosystems allowing its customers and business partners to connect to Internet of Things (IoT) on a global level.
The first phase of the roll out targets tier 1 to 4 cities in India touching over 400 million people. There have been successful field trials in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai with 35 proof of concept applications in trial on the network.
Tata Communications has also selected HPE to be an important part of its global cellular IoT connectivity services providing a range of domestic as well as cross-border IoT connectivity and management services. This includes connected cars, fleet management and transportation services.
