Samsung had a lot to show at the event yesterday but the biggest announcement to come out of the media-only event was the unveiling of the Galaxy Note7 for the Indian market. The phone will be available from September 2 at a price tag Rs. 59,900 while the pre-orders will begin from August 22 till August 30. The phone remains unchanged from the international variant, which means you get the same 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, IP68 certification for dust and water resistance and powered by 4GB RAM and 14nm Exynos octa-core processor.
The Galaxy Note7 also features 64GB internal memory and a hybrid SIM slot that supports dual-SIM connectivity or microSD cards up to 256GB, 12 megapixel Dual Pixel rear-facing camera and 5 megapixel front-facing camera, NFC and 3500mAh battery that supports fast and wireless charging.
However, the thing that takes the cake for the Galaxy Note7 series is the inclusion of the new iris scanner that allows users to unlock the phones with the eyes, in addition to the fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port and Gorilla Glass 5, making it the first device to sport the latest glass from Corning.
S Pen has also got an upgrade that now allows writing memos on the screen when you have AlwaysOn feature activated. Additionally, with the S Pen, you can Magnify the text and even translate the text on the screen. Interestingly, it also supports a variety of Indian languages.
To complement the Galaxy Note7, Samsung also announced few accessories like the new Gear VR, Gear IconX and Gear Fit2. The Gear VR is priced at Rs. 7,290 but will be available at a discount for users who pre-order the device whereas the Gear IconX and Gear Fit2 will go on sale from end of this month at Rs. 13,490 and Rs. 13,990 respectively.
