Hot on the heels of the $200 top-end Blaze, Fitbit has released the more affordable Alta at $130. Nearly everything can be customised, right down to the interchangeable bands, which will be available in a wide variety of colours and textures.
The Alta doesn’t include any physical button; it activates with the flick of a wrist. With the exclusion of heart-rate monitoring and GPS, the Alta is intended for everyday wear but it gives the benefit of a longer battery life.
Notifications from mobile devices will be displayed on a monochrome OLED display as well as through vibrations. The new Smart Track feature can automatically detect and log on the app, any physical activity the wearer is doing at a particular moment.
Additional bands will be sold at a range of $30, $60 and $100. The Alta is expected to be available worldwide by April 2016.
