The OnePlus 13 is insanely fast, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite and, if you go for the more powerful model, a whopping 16 GB of RAM. But even the base model can deliver impressive speed, especially with OnePlus’ RAM expansion feature. With 16 GB of RAM, I pushed mine to 28 GB, and let me tell you, everything flies. We know not everyone pushes their phone to the limit like we do. We edited videos, which is one of the toughest tests for any phone. We had other phones crash apps, struggle with large video files, or freeze up completely. But with the OnePlus 13, I’ve never had a single issue. For most users, the phone’s power is most noticeable when gaming or multitasking. We constantly flipping between multiple apps, and the OnePlus 13 makes it seamless. Gamers will appreciate the Dual Cryo-Velocity vapor chambers, which keep things cool during extended sessions. Plus, OnePlus has a new fast charger, the AIRVOOC 50W magnetic charger, that helps manage heat even better.
The image quality on the new OnePlus 13 has received several noticeable upgrades, thanks to better processing, tweaks to the zoom camera, and Hasselblad’s improvements—especially for portraits. While the camera specs are mostly the same as the OnePlus 12, it’s the software that makes the difference. We thought the OnePlus 12 had one of the best cameras on a phone, particularly in portrait and pro modes, but the OnePlus 13 takes things up a notch. Photos are noticeably improved, and the camera now does a much better job handling tricky lighting situations. A big upgrade is the ability to shoot 4K 60fps Dolby Vision HDR on all cameras, including the front-facing one. is is going to impress vloggers and content creators with its sharp, vibrant results. There are also smart modes that pop up to help you capture specific scenes, like fi reworks, stage lighting, or silhouettes. The zoom options are solid, with the ultra-wide at 0.6x and standard zoom ranging from 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x, all the way up to 120x.
The 3x zoom is definitely my favorite—it’s clear and detailed in all kinds of situations. Digital zoom beyond 6x, up to 20x, works okay in good lighting, though it can be hit or miss. One area that still needs improvement is how AI is used for zoom. Depending on what you’re shooting, the results aren’t always ideal. With digital zoom beyond 20x, objects can start to look strange, with weird textures and contours. It’s hard to say if that’s better or worse than pixelated images, and there’s no way to turn the AI off.
Despite those minor hiccups, the overall camera performance is still very impressive. The photos feel more like what you’d get from a real camera, rather than the often oversaturated, unrealistic shots
you typically see on phones. We even got some great results shooting at night.
The display on the OnePlus 13 is absolutely stunning. With a resolution of 3168×1440 and a 120 Hz refresh rate, the 6.82-inch AMOLED screen is vibrant and bright, offering an average brightness of 1,600 nits and peaking at a dazzling 4,500 nits. Whether you’re watching videos, gaming, or just browsing, everything looks incredibly sharp and crisp. The screen is also super responsive. A neat feature called Gloves Mode lets you use the phone even with regular gloves on, which is handy when it’s cold outside.
When it comes to battery life and charging speed, no one does it better than OnePlus. Seriously, no other phone comes close. The OnePlus 13 comes with their first 6,000 mAh Silicon NanoStack battery, paired with 100W cable charging, thanks to the included SuperVOOC power plug and cable. That’s right—OnePlus actually includes the power brick and cable, which is something most other brands don’t bother with. That’s a big win in my book. From 1%, we can get a full charge in about 40 minutes, and if we
are in a pinch, a quick 15-minute charge will give me enough power
to last through the afternoon or more. It’s pretty impressive.
