India is one of the hotbeds for smartphone companies these days and not to be outdone by the competition, Xiaomi has announced their new device – the Redmi 2 Prime. The phone is just an enhanced version of Redmi 2 smartphone but the bigger takeaway from the announcement is that the phone is made in India, for Indians.
Xiaomi teamed up with Foxconn to produce this phone at the latter’s facility based in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
As far as the phone is concerned, it has similar features to the Redmi 2 like a Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor, 4G Dual SIM support, 4.7-inch HD display and an 8 megapixel camera but also bumps the RAM to 2GB and internal storage to 16GB.
The phone is now available online on Mi.com as well as its other online partners for Rs. 6,999.
