YU today announced Yunicorn, their latest flagship device taking over from last year’s Yutopia. Running YU’s custom AOS (Android on Steroids!), YU says there are a lot of improvements on the software side but experience is close to stock Android. It also comes with Around YU 2.0, which now allows to book cabs from Ola and Uber, Doctors and an integrated Wallet. While the OS at launch is almost a pure Android v5.1, YU is expected to launch the Marshmallow update soon enough through their Highway initiative.
Yunicorn is packed with meaty hardware that includes MediaTek Helio P10 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Moreover, it has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, fingerprint sensor that can unlock in 0.2 seconds, 13 megapixel sensor at the back with 5 megapixel on the front and a 4,000mAh battery. The smartphone will be available in 3 colour variants – Black, White and a limited edition Gold colour that will only be sold online for the month of June.
Yu Yunicorn will go on sale on June 7 exclusively for one month on Flipkart for Rs. 12,999. However, that special price is reserved only for the first month one after which it will go on sale in offline stores as well at a higher price of Rs. 14,999.
