Play Xbox One games from anywhere on your Android device

January 21, 2020 by T3 India

The preview of the latest Xbox Console Streaming, which had been launched in US and UK markets in October 2019, is now available in India and other Xbox One-supported countries. The Xbox Console Streaming allows users to play Xbox One games installed on their console through their Android phone or tablet over Wi-Fi or mobile networks.

Console Streaming allows users to pick up and play games at any time and place, provided they have access to stable internet over Wi-Fi or mobile networks on their Android devices. Gamers can play games installed on their Xbox One console, including Xbox Game Pass titles. The Xbox Console Streaming does not include Xbox One backward compatible titles from Xbox 360 or the original Xbox.

To try out Console Streaming, one must have the following – an Xbox One console, an active Xbox Insider (you can sign up for this here), a phone or tablet running Android 6.0 or higher with Bluetooth 4.0, a Microsoft Account with Xbox profile, and a recommended 5GHz Wi-Fi or mobile data connection with a 10Mbps down/ 4.75Mbps up speed.

“We view the public preview as an important step in our journey to deliver game streaming to Xbox players around the world! We are learning from Xbox Insiders like you whenever you participate in these new technologies.”

Jonathan Hildebrandt, Principal Program Manager, Xbox.

November 15, 2018 by Ankush Mahajan

Leading components and peripherals maker Corsair has announced compatibility of their wired as well as wireless keyboards and mice with Microsoft Xbox One console. This opens up a lot of possibilities if developers choose to add control support to their games.

For now Xbox One games confirmed to receive peripheral support are Fortnite, Warframe and Minecraft with more compatible titles coming in the near future. Microsoft will work with developers to ensure the games are fair and properly balanced regardless of the control device used.

Additionally, Corsair will be working more closely with Microsoft on various other initiatives including their next generation interactive live-streaming service ‘Mixer’. With Corsair’s subsidiary brand Elgato, Mixer broadcasters can integrate the Elgato stream deck along with others currently in development.

Rockstar games announce Red Dead Redemption 2

October 21, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

Rockstar games confirmed the development of the follow-up to the hit 2010 western sandbox by releasing a teaser trailer for the game. The game is set to take full advantage of current gen consoles and will no doubt harness the extra processing power of upcoming incremental console upgrades (Xbox Scorpio, Playstation 4 Pro).

Not much is known in terms of story but the developer has mentioned the game “is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland”. But the change of the logo on all of Rockstar’s social media pages on October 17 hints at what could be expected. In the late 1800s, the Texas Rangers were formed on that very day protecting their namesake from invaders and hostiles.

The open game world is also said to provide the foundation for a new online multiplayer experience. The trademark of Red Dead Online hints at an experience similar to Grand Theft Auto Online.

Red Dead Redemption will be releasing in Fall 2017 for Xbox One and PS4. No word on a PC release yet.

Prey gets first gameplay trailer

August 5, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

Publisher Bethesda Softworks unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Prey during QuakeCon 2016. Developed by Arkane Austin, the first person sci-fi shooter debuted during E3 2016.

The game is a reboot completely divorced from Prey (2006) developed by the now defunct Human Head Studios. The company was developing a sequel to the game in 2011 which was unfortunately canned by the publisher.

The new game re-imagines the franchise by adding psychological horror to the formula. Set in the year 2032, Prey plants you in the shoes of Morgan Yu, a survivor stranded on a space station orbiting the moon after an experiment gone horribly wrong. Stuck in a rock and a hard place, Morgan must survive the hostile aliens actively hunting him to uncover the truth behind everything.

The player can gain alien abilities to develop a combination of powers and upgrades to suit their playstyle. Items can be crafted with blueprints while gadgets and tools found lying around can be used in inventive ways. The game is shaping up to be an interesting amalgamation of System Shock, Geist and Bioshock.
