Samsung Announces Relocation of Offices

Samsung has announced that Samsung R&D Institute, Noida (SRI-N) and Samsung Design Delhi (SDD) have moved to a new office in the city that is housed in an IGBC LEED Platinum rated campus. The new office campus is spread over 377,118 sq ft of space across 10 floors in the Candor TechSpace building on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

According to reports, the latest workspace reinforces Samsung’s commitment to its vision of #PoweringDigitalIndia by empowering the next generation of young India with its impactful innovations.

SRI-N and SDD’s new office is built on the linear workstations concept and every floor has a social hub at the entrance. The space also includes height adjustable workstations, which can also be used as standing desks. The workspace follows the hot desking concept, allowing people to choose where they want to sit. Employees at SRI-N choose their seats for a week through an in-house app. Through the app, members of different teams working on a project can choose to sit together and collaborate better.

Infused with biophilic design principles, the interior of the office is built around a human-centred approach. As part of this principle, biophilia or indoor plants in planters are spread across the office. The work floors are also equipped with Indoor Air Quality sensors. Reports suggest that the campus has an IGBC LEED Platinum rating and has been awarded 5 stars by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). The new office uses technology like occupancy sensors and maximises the use of natural light.

SRI-N’s new office houses a number of labs with equipment that work on testing smartphone device performance, stability and IoT capabilities. The campus is also equipped with a multi-format experiential cafeteria, training hub, crèche, gymnasium, wellness center, daycare, banks/ATMs, cafes, restaurants and various recreational amenities as well as EV charging stations.

Samsung launches a new soundbar line-up with the Q, A, and S series

Samsung have announced the launch of a total of 8 new soundbars to enhance users’ viewing experiences with transformed and improved sound. These new soundbars are a part of the Q, A, and S series of soundbars, features of which have been elaborated below.

Starting with the premium Q-series of soundbars, Samsung have integrated its Q-symphony technology which delivers a realistic three-dimensional audio. The Q-series of soundbars comprises the Q950A, Q900A, Q800A, and the Q600A. Here are some of the salient features of the Q-series soundbars:

  • True 11.1.4 Channel Soundbar: Deilvers rich, stereoscopic, and detailed expressions of sound motion in 11 directions. These soundbars are first in the world to be equipped with 11.1.4 channel.
  • Dolby Atmos/DTS:X: delivers 3D sound to reproduce a real cinematic experience. Q950A and Q900A support true Dolby Atmos through its full range driver with the waveguide, whereas the Q800A and Q600A support true Dolby Atmos via Samsung patented technology, the Acoustic Beam that acts as upward-firing speaker delivering an immersive overhead sound.
  • SpaceFit Sound: which analyses the surrounding environment to optimise sound quality.
  • Q-Symphony: allows the soundbar to sync with Samsung TVs creating an immersive audio experience.
  • Up-firing rear speakers: Engineered by Samsung Audio Lab, these speakers aim to maximise overhead and surround sound effects.
  • Built-in Amazon Alexa
  • Game Mode Pro
  • One remote: for the soundbars and Samsung TVs, enabling simpler and less-complicated control of both devices.

The A-series of soundbars consists of the A670, A550, and A450 models. They come with enhanced wattage and automatically optimise overall sound and voice clarity depending on the type of content. Below are some important features of the A-series of soundbars:

  • Dolby Audio/DTS:X
  • Bass Boost: This feature delivers more power and allows users to add ‘more boom’ with a simple click
  • Inbuilt Subwoofers: aiding bass
  • One remote
  • Adaptive Sound Lite – which optimises sound based on the type of content being viewed.

The S-series consists of the S16A which is ‘stylishly design wrapped’ in premium fabric, and has a central speaker. Its features include:

  • Built-in Amazon Alexa
  • Music streaming via Airplay2
  • Side horn speaker with acoustic beam: The ‘Acoustic Beam’ technology has multiple up-firing holes which delivers a panoramic sound experience.  

The Q series soundbar models – Q950A, Q900A, Q800A, and Q600A will be available for INR 147,990, INR 111,990, INR 61,990 and INR 43,990 respectively. 

A series soundbar models A670, A550 and A450 will be available for INR 47,990, INR 33,990 and INR 27,990 respectively. 

S series soundbar model S61A will be available for INR 47,990.

All soundbars come with a 12-month warranty.

Samsung makes a breakthrough with the mass production of the smallest mobile image sensor

Samsung have pulled through yet again by introducing the industry’s first 0.64-micrometer-pixel image sensor, namely, the 50 megapixel Samsung ISOCELL JN1. This tiny sensor fosters the sleek designs of smartphones and is equipped with the latest technologies as described below.

The new Samsung ISOCELL JN1 consists of the industry’s smallest pixel size – that of 0.64 micrometers. The ISOCELL JN1 utilises the upgraded ISOCELL 2.0 technology that improve light sensitivity by around 16%. The JN1 also employs Samsung’s very own Tetrapixel feature: a four-to-one binning technology which, in essence, merges 4 adjacent 0.64µm pixels into one 1.28µm pixel thereby enhancing light sensitivity by a factor of 4 in order to deliver brighter 12.5MP photographs.

The ISOCELL JN1 also delivers a better dynamic range through the Smart-ISO feature which Is a technology ‘that changes the conversion gain’ based on the illumination in the place or environment being photographed. Additionally, this feature also does well in retaining details in shadows and highlights through its Low ISO mode and High ISO mode in brightly-lit and lowly-lit environments, respectively.

Samsung have stressed upon their desire to make the JN1 as versatile as possible. All the technologies are embedded in a small 1/2.76-inch optical format thus, enabling the JN1 to be compatible with existing 1/2.8-inch devices as well in which the JN1 can be used for the front facing cameras, ultra-wide or the telephoto lenses. It is also capable of capturing 4K videos at 60fps or Full HD videos at 240fps.

The ISOCELL JN1 also employs the Double Super PD tech for better auto-focussing capabilities which utilises twice the density of pixels (1/16) used for phase detection than the Super PD technology. This also enables ‘the same auto-focus performance even in environments with about 60-percent less illumination levels’. The smaller size of the sensor has the potential to reduce dimensions of the camera modules in smartphones as well.

“The new ISOCELL JN1 at 0.64μm will be able to equip tomorrow’s sleekest smartphones with ultra-high resolution mobile photographs,” said Duckhyun Chang, executive vice president of the sensor business at Samsung Electronics. “As we drive our commitment to innovation in pixel technologies, we will continue to bring a wide range of mobile image sensor offerings to the market.”

Samsung scales innovation to new heights with The Sero Lifestyle TV

Samsung Galaxy M51 comes with a monstrous 7000mAh battery

In exactly a week from now, the Samsung Galaxy M51 will be launched in India and apart from Samsung’s trustworthy image and reliability being the main appealing factors, this smartphone offers some fantastic features for everyone, especially those who end up spending a lot of their time on their phones.

The Samsung Galaxy M51 is the newest addition to the long-running Galaxy M series. The M51 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G, a relatively superior 2.2GHz octa-core processor and known for its efficiency. The M51 also boasts of the Qualcomm Adreno 618 GPU that delivers up to 15% faster graphics rendering than a device powered by Snapdragon 730.
