Gionee F103Pro gets many new features, bug fixes through OTA update

Gionee announced an Over the Air (OTA) update for the recently released F103 Pro.

New features included are double tapping the device to wake it up from sleep mode thereby reducing the need of pressing the physical phone button. Black screen gestures have also been added to help owners use finger strokes to access common features. For example, drawing C will immediately open up the camera application.

The new update also claims to resolve issues like unknown number display with VoLTE SIM Card on call logs, conference call UI issue, addresses minor bug fixes and also includes various performance improvements.

Gionee unveils M6 and M6 Plus smartphones

Chinese company Gionee released their new flagship M6 and M6 Plus smartphones at a launch event in Beijing recently. The company is touting the massive battery backup and in-built data encryption as the USP of the devices. However, the security chip is exclusive to China only shipping to rest of the world with a fingerprint scanner instead.

The curved devices have been built using aerospace-class unibody aluminium with a 2.5D glass protecting the display on the front. Interestingly, the M6 and M6 Plus can also be used as a power bank. In order to optimize charging, 9V2A dual charge chips allow for faster and cooler charging in comparison to competition in the market according to Gionee. Coming to the snappers, the rear camera houses a Sony IMX258 module with F2.0 aperture featuring PDAF and LED flash while the front camera has a F2.2 aperture.

The M6 Plus shares most of the same specs as the M6 with the addition of higher clocked processor, larger 6″ display and 6,020mAh. While both smartphones have been launched in China, no release date has been announced for India yet.

Gionee adds F103 Pro to its Fashion smartphone series

Gionee has released the F103 Pro for the Indian market, the successor to F103 launched last year. The 4G VoLTE device is aimed at the fashion conscious which is evident given the metal body and sleek finish of the device. It comes loaded with features like face beauty, text recognition, desktop editor, Gionee abroad services, trash feature and time laps.

The F103 Pro is selling at a price of Rs.11,999 online on Flipkart.

Gionee S6 launched in India

After a successful launch in China last year, the Gionee S6 has finally landed on Indian shores. The main selling feature of the smartphone is the 89% metal body with a screen to body ratio of 77.8% owing to the 5.5” screen.

Having a resolution of 720x1280p, the S6 is powered by a MediaTek MT6753 octa-core chip and a Mali T720 graphics processor. 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory (expandable upto 128GB) and a 3,150mAh battery round up the specifications. There’s also a 13MP rear LED flash and a 5MP front camera.

The above hardware runs on a modified Android 5.1 with the AMIGO 3.1.
