Audio-Technica launches a professional broadcast quality podcast microphone: AT2040

August 19, 2021 by T3 India

One of the giants in the audio industry, Audio-Technica, have launched the AT2040 which is a Hyper Cardioid Dynamic Podcast microphone which is capable of reproducing high-quality audio. The AT2040 is also priced at Rs. 9,500 which is an affordable range for serious enthusiasts and content creators.

The AT2040 features a rugged all-metal design and it ‘excels at isolated/up-close vocal reproduction’. The AT2040 strips off unwanted room noise from the reproduced audio through its hyper cardioid polar pattern and specially-designed shock mount which attenuates vibration from a boom arm or mic stand.

The AT2040 mic’s multistage windscreen uses a nonwoven filter with foam mesh to provide a high-quality pop filtering. The microphone’s XLR output is compatible with a conventional analog mic input, and thus, it can be used with devices ranging from USB audio interfaces to professional mixing consoles. Along with a soft protective pouch, the mic comes with a pivoting stand mount and a 5/8-inch-27 to 3/8-inch-16 threaded adapter.

In the press release, Robin Ghose, Business Development Manager (Professional and Consumer) at Audio-Technica India, remarks, “In addition to being the microphone of choice of professionals at major sporting and music events across the globe, Audio-Technica microphones have been embraced by streamers, YouTubers and other content creators over the years. We previously did not offer a dynamic hyper cardioid microphone so finely-tuned to the needs of podcasters and decided to take the technology and experience we have with our broadcast microphones and offer the AT2040.The smooth vocal reproduction and focused pickup of the microphone that will help take their podcasts and other content to the next level.”
