Samsung, today unveiled details of its Galaxy M17e 5G that is slated for launch on March 17. The display also supports Adaptive Brightness with High Brightness Mode (HBM) that automatically adjusts brightness based on surrounding light conditions for visibility, even under direct sunlight.
The smartphone seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with everyday practicality and a durable design. It is just 8.2mm slim, and features a GFRP (Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer) back with a key island design on the side for ergonomic access to its buttons.
Additionally, the device carries an IP54 water- and dust-resistance rating that certifies it against dust ingress and water splashes from all directions.

The Galaxy M17e 5G is powered by a 6000mAh battery that allows users to stream content, browse social media and stay connected for longer periods without frequent charging.
When combined with One UI 8 optimisations, the battery ensures that users can move through the day without worrying about power. The Galaxy M17e is also designed to put unused apps in sleep mode to reduce power drain.

The smartphone runs on the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6300 5G processor, comprising two Cortex-A76 2.4GHz performance cores and six Cortex-A55 2.0GHz efficiency cores. The integrated Arm Mali-G57 GPU handles graphics processing for multimedia playback and casual gaming while maintaining efficient power usage.

The Galaxy M17e 5G runs Samsung’s One UI 8.0, based on Android 16. Interface improvements include Large Folders on the home screen that make it easier to organise a large number of apps.
One UI 8.0 also includes Now Bar, which surfaces real-time updates and ongoing activities on the lock screen. Live Notifications highlight active tasks, such as media playback, timers and navigation on the lock screen.
The Galaxy M17e 5G also integrates the Google Gemini AI assistant that generates text, explains concepts, summarises information and assists with planning tasks. It supports Google’s Circle to Search, allowing users to search directly from the screen by circling or tapping objects, text or images without switching apps.
Samsung has committed to six generations of operating system (OS) upgrades and six years of security updates — the highest in the segment — providing long-term software support.

The Galaxy M17e 5G is equipped with an Auto Blocker that prevents the installation of applications from unauthorised sources to block malicious activity, and the Samsung Knox Vault that protects sensitive information by isolating important data such as passwords and financial credentials in a secure hardware environment.
Samsung Knox Vault carries the Evaluation Assurance Level 5+ (EAL5+) certification, indicating independent testing against strict security standards used in sectors such as finance, healthcare and critical infrastructure.
Additional Samsung services enhance the smartphone experience: Samsung Health tracks well-being metrics, Samsung Members aids with device diagnostics and troubleshooting support, and Samsung Voice Focus delivers improved call clarity by reducing background noise.
