Asus has unveiled the world’s first Tango enabled and Daydream ready smartphone in the form of the Zenfone AR (Augmented Reality). In another first, it is also the only device till date to be releasing with 8GB RAM.
To give a little bit of background, Tango is a set of sensors and computer vision software by Google enabling AR experience on the device including AR gaming, utilities and indoor navigation. Daydream is Google’s platform for mobile virtual reality to support Daydream VR apps. The Zenfone AR has been developed in close cooperation with Google.
Although competition is stiff in the department, the Zenfone AR is the thinnest and lightest Tango enabled device which is possible with the use of Asus Tricam system. This three camera system consists of a 23MP main camera, motion tracking camera and a depth-sensing camera. The Tricam system clusters its array of cameras to reduce the footprint within the phone. A five magnet speaker system ensures that audio is not lagging behind. On the front of the device, the fingerprint sensor has been embedded into the home button.
Pricing and availability will be announced soon.
