Many users may have noticed a change when logging into their Instagram account with the two-factor authentication greeting them. It requires the user to enter their email and password leading to a verification code sent on their mobile phone to authenticate the login.
This second layer of protection will come as welcome news to users paranoid about getting their accounts hacked or data leaked. Recently, a new feature was introduced that allows users to add different Instragram accounts under one profile.
Parent company Facebook has been using the two-factor system by way of ‘login approvals’ for about 4 years now. Instagram is the latest to join Amazon, Google, Twitter and other major sites to add this extra layer of security.
