After getting unveiled last month in Kuala Lampur, Samsung has revealed the launch date for the Galaxy A9 (2018) in India. It is the world’s first smartphone with a quad camera setup at the rear.
The quad camera setup on the rear consists of a 24MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and pixel binning technology that combines 4 pixels into one, 10MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide sensor with 120 degree lens with f/2.4 aperture and 5MP depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front is a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture that supports Face Unlock. The Scene Optimiser recognises 19 different scenes and optimises colour settings in the clicked photographs.
The 6.3″ FHD+ (1080x2220p) Infinity Display makes use of a SAMOLED panel having an 18.5:9 aspect ratio skipping the notch. Instead of a proprietary Exynos SoC, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the device. The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo-based Samsung Experience UX with no confirmed plans regarding the availability of Android Pie.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is priced at Rs.36,990 for the 6GB RAM variant and Rs.39,990 for the 8GB RAM model. Both are available in 3 colours: Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegun Pink. The latter two have a gradient pattern design. Pre-orders have started with the device being sold through all leading offline and online stores across the country from 28 November.
