Previous iterations of the OnePlus phones have been game-changing and with the brilliant OnePlus 7 series smartphones still raging on in the market and being fresh, the OnePlus 8 flagship series is going to be out this summer with some significant features and elements under the hood. With its collaboration with Google and Amazon, we don’t see any reason why the OnePlus 8 smartphones won’t be among some of the best of 2020.
The OnePlus 8 series consists of the premium flagship OnePlus 8 Pro and the OnePlus 8. In both, users have hands-free and push-to-talk access to Alexa, after downloading the app. With the numerous libraries of Alexa’s skills at the palm of their hands, users can control their smart homes, make calls and do various other tasks expected from Alexa, from these phones. Additionally, users can also cast their phones to TVs and select from multiple voice services through Alexa. This is impressive indeed.
When it comes to the build and hardware, both the phones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with the fast 5G connectivity supported by its Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System. Although 5G won’t work in India. They are equipped with up to 12GB of boosted RAM and with up to 256GB of storage space. Gaming is smoother than ever too as the 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid Display offers a seamless 120Hz refresh rate with a peak brightness of up to 1300 nits with greater colour accuracy. OnePlus’ very own optimization system, which is the OnePlus Smooth Chain, promises every touch to be an experience of its own.
The OnePlus 8 is equipped with a Fluid 6.55-inch display offering a refresh rate of 90Hz. The 20:9 aspect ratio of the screen also makes it ideal for users to stream movies and shows anywhere they go, with crisper video quality, thanks to the HDR 10 and 10+ support as well.
Each iteration of the OnePlus series smartphones has offered fresh and powerful new experiences in photography. The OnePlus 8 Pro features a quad-camera setup with a 48 MP main camera with the new Sony IMX689 sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view, a telephoto lens with 3x hybrid and 30x digital zoom, and a unique colour filter camera.
In the OnePlus 8’s three-camera setup, the main camera features Sony’s 48MP IMX586 sensor, a macro lens for super-close-up shots and a 16MP ultra-wide camera with a 116-degree field of view. Both, the 8 Pro and the 8 are equipped with an optical and electronic image stabilisation system.
With the super-fast charging systems on the rise, charging both the phones is speedy. It takes just 22 minutes for the OnePlus 8 and the 8 Pro to go from 0 to 50 percent with the Warp Charge 30T technology. The OnePlus 8 comes with a 4300mAh battery and the OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a 4510mAh battery along with the Warp Charge 30 Wireless charging option as well.
OnePlus phones have been consistent with the fantastic and friendly UI and the OnePlus 8 series phones offer no less. Running on Android 10, many features and visuals are enhanced through the integrated OxygenOS. Users can also select a “Dark Theme 2.0” for their screens.
