The Nokia 5310 was announced globally in March 2020, and is now going to launch in India on June 23, 2020. The new Nokia 5310 is a part of Nokia’s ‘Originals’ family, and is based on the design of the 13-year-old Nokia 5310 Xpress Music, serving as a strong reminder of our past and the phones that young adults grew up with.
The Nokia 5310 is priced at Rs. 3,399 but it misses out on some key features which the Jio Phone – priced at Rs. 1,999 – offers, with 4G LTE connectivity being the main one. However, the Nokia 5310 aims to address the audio and music needs of consumers, with an in-built MP3 player, an FM Radio which can be used wirelessly as well, and dual front-facing features.
The design, as mentioned, is based on the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music and it surely is pleasing to the eyes and it does have the 5-way navigation key and the retro keyboard. It is equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen and runs on a MediaTek MT6260A processor with a dated 8MB RAM.
Storage space of just 16MB is available with the 5310, but it also has a dedicated microSD slot to expand the memory to 32GB. The SD card needs to be bought separately though. The Nokia 5310 also houses a 1200mAh battery and we know that it can go on for days with the minimal usage of phones like the 5310.
The Nokia 5310 also has a rear VGA camera with flash, and it supports GSM 900/1800 bands. But truth be told, it’s going to be a difficult journey for this phone as it simply does not outperform the Jio phone which is slightly more than half the Nokia 5310’s price but also offers a range of better features like 4G, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage space which is expandable to 128GB, and a 2000mAh battery; not to mention the exclusive offers of the superior Jio phone network, which is preferred by most users nowadays.
The Nokia 5310 can be pre-ordered now and will be available for just 4 weeks, on leading online stores, starting from June 23, 2020, before it makes its way to retail shops across. The Nokia 5310 will be available in 2 colour variants: the White/Red and the Black/Red and will cost Rs. 3,399 for the dual SIM variant.
