Mi 5 32GB comes to India for a cool Rs 24,999

As promised, Xiaomi has announced its flagship Mi 5 smartphone for India. The phone goes on sale from April 6 and will sell for a seriously affordable Rs 24,999. Amazing, you say? Of course it is, because the Mi 5 comes with state-of-the-art hardware that greatly undercuts some of its closest competition.

The phone features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 1.8GHZ and comes with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 5.15-inch Full HD IPS display and a 16MP main camera with 4MP one on the front.

Mi 5 also runs MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, features a fingerprint sensor, a USB Type-C support and has a non-removable 3000mAh battery.

At the launch of the Redmi Note 3 event, Xiaomi VP Hugo Barra announced that the Mi5 will be sold next month in India, although no date was given. The smartphone garnered over 1.5 crore registrations within a couple of days in China.

The company also confirmed their Bluetooth speakers will be sold in the last week of March, around Holi signifying the large range of available colours. Featuring a 1,500mAh battery and eight-hour playback, the aluminium body speakers will be sold for Rs 1,999.

A 20,000mAh power bank will also be making its way into the Indian market soon.

The highly anticipated flagship smartphone was finally revealed today ending months of rumours and speculation. But the biggest surprise is Xiaomi offering the phone in 3 different versions confirming various leaks prior to the MWC 16. Along with weekly updates from the company, Xiaomi’s cross platform Mi Video Calling app makes its debut in the Mi5.
