Leaked pic provides a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S7

February 9, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

The first leaked image for the Samsung Galaxy S7 isn’t much but provides interesting information about it. The rear picture shows off a slimmer curved profile expected to house a bigger battery and a smaller camera bump in comparison to the older model. This might hint at a lower megapixel count for the camera but would be offset by an improved sensor.

Other rumours suggest a magnesium body, water resistance and the return of a microSD slot.

Expect to see even more leaks the closer we get to the Mobile World Congress 2016.

Galaxy S6 Edge Plus might come with this ugly keyboard case

August 9, 2015 by Nathan George

The photo came from notorious leakster Evan Blass, who certainly surprised a lot of people when he shared it his famed twitter account. It shows the upcoming S6 Edge Plus rocking a slide-on case that gives users a physical keyboard.

While a lot of people prefer the old-school way of having a proper keyboard, I think most of you can agree that it somewhat tarnishes the sleek look of the S6 Edge Plus.

This could be a mock-up image that Samsung is just playing with, but then again, considering the size of the S6 Edge Plus – which is a hefty 5.7 inches – a keyboard accessory makes sense.

If it’s the real deal, then it’s very possible we could see it at Samsung’s Unpacked event on August 13, where the wraps will be taken off the S6 Edge Plus and Galaxy Note 5. We may well see the Samsung Gear A smartwatch tag along too.

Previous rumours suggest the Note 5 is the more powerful of the two, packing the new Samsung Exynos 7422 SoC, while the S6 Edge Plus will apparently use the Snapdragon 808 CPU. The latter is also expected to have a 16-megapixel main camera with OIS, 32GB storage and a 3000mAh battery.

Going on the renders we saw last week, our expectations are high.

The Galaxy S7 might arrive sooner than we thought

August 9, 2015 by Nathan George

And it’s all down to a new production process that Samsung has started utilising called “Agile”. Asian sources quoted by SamMobile say that it’s replaced the old “Waterfall” approach, and apparently lets Samsung's engineers work on multiple parts simultaneously.

That means we may see Samsung completing development of the Galaxy S7 as soon as December, making it very possible for the device to launch early 2016, maybe even at January’s CES tradeshow.

The new process also means Samsung can quickly change direction and get rid of anything it wants at the drop of a hat. Overall, it should minimise delays and disruption as much as possible.

Needless to say, Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any of this information, so do take it with a pinch of salt. Also it may prove counterproductive to bring the Galaxy S7 forward too much, given that the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus handsets are expected to debut on August 13.

iPhone 6S and Apple TV launch tipped for September 9

August 8, 2015 by Nathan George

The launch event plans have been teased by claimed insider sources speaking with BuzzFeed. They say the annual autumn event will take place on September 9, and be the platform for the much-rumoured iPhone 6S and a larger iPhone 6S Plus.

The smartphone duo won’t be alone though. Like we heard last week, the report says the next-gen Apple TV will make its debut and maybe, just maybe, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

We’re also expecting Apple to present iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan to the world and rolling them out to users shortly after the event. While Apple hasn’t yet confirmed the date, September 9 fits the bill judging by past launch cycles.

The iPhone 6S has been the subject of multiple leaks in recent weeks, with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge rivalling smartphone tipped to flaunt the same uber-svelte design as the iPhone 6, but new components are expected to be added, including an improved camera, a faster processor and a new Force Touch display.

Last year’s iPhones were a smash-hit, racking up more than ten million sales in the first weekend. Do you think you will upgrade to the 6S?
