OnePlus ditches the invite system for upcoming OP3

June 2, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

OnePlus has let go of their invite system starting with the upcoming OnePlus 3. All future products from the company will follow suit and will be sold via open sales. The invite system was adopted to allow OnePlus to scale their operations and manage risks while growing at a steady pace but left many prospective buyers fuming without an invite.

Previously to get an invite, a user had to complete community tasks on social media sites or request one from owners of a OnePlus device. Otherwise they would have to wait it out for the device to go invite free which would take many months.

Users with the VR Loop device will be able to get exclusive access for the first two hours of the launch after which it will open up to the general public. The device is set for a global launch on June 14 at 10:00pm.

OnePlus also released a teaser showcasing the VR loop device.
