Review: Corsair HS70 SE

December 17, 2018 by T3 Online

The Corsair HS70 SE bucks the latest RGB trend that you often find with gaming peripherals and accessories. It’s all black exterior, mesh outer grille and accent stitched headband makes it look simple yet stand out from the snazzy looking competitive devices.

The headphones are durable and ergonomically designed, thanks to the metal construction and aluminium yoke, and comfortable memory foam earpads. The HS70 SE boasts on-ear volume controls as well as microUSB and detachable mic ports. We like the no-frills design but if we were to nitpick, we don’t like how the mic port cover is not attached to the headphone, making it very easy to lose.

The Corsair HS70 SE is a wireless headphone but unlike regular Bluetooth headphones, it can only talk to the bundled transmitter. In short, if you are looking for a pair of cans that works with flawlessly with PC, consoles and smartphones, you’ll have to look elsewhere. However, that said, using the HS70 SE with the wireless transmitter is fast and easy as the device comes pre-synced out of the box. Insert the transmitter to a PC or a PS4 and you’re ready to go. Corsair claims a range of 40ft and while we didn’t get Corsair’s claimed range due to the interference of other wireless devices and thick walls, the HS70 SE is certainly better compared to other headsets in the same price range.

Corsair HS70 SE

In terms of audio performance, the HS70 SE works well, delivering the much-needed performance you want from a gaming headset. The audio quality from the 50mm neodymium drivers is good and certainly makes a difference when you’re playing a game like PUBG or Fortnite. There’s 7.1 surround sound support as well but it only supports on PC via Corsair’s special software that needs to be downloaded. Moreover, the software also allows to customise the EQ settings and adjust microphone input volume. During our use, we got about 14 hours of use from a single charge.

The mic performance is decent with the optimised unidirectional microphone that helps to reduce ambient noise for improved voice quality.

RATING 4/5
WE’RE IMPRESSED Design
WE’D IMPROVE Mic Port
THE LAST WORD The Corsair HS70 SE is priced at Rs. 11,200 that brings good audio and mic performance, needed for a fruitful gaming session.

Corsair lets you game on Xbox One with a mouse and keyboard

November 15, 2018 by Ankush Mahajan

Leading components and peripherals maker Corsair has announced compatibility of their wired as well as wireless keyboards and mice with Microsoft Xbox One console. This opens up a lot of possibilities if developers choose to add control support to their games.

For now Xbox One games confirmed to receive peripheral support are Fortnite, Warframe and Minecraft with more compatible titles coming in the near future. Microsoft will work with developers to ensure the games are fair and properly balanced regardless of the control device used.

Additionally, Corsair will be working more closely with Microsoft on various other initiatives including their next generation interactive live-streaming service ‘Mixer’. With Corsair’s subsidiary brand Elgato, Mixer broadcasters can integrate the Elgato stream deck along with others currently in development.

Corsair reveals new ultra-quiet Strafe RGB Silent mechanical keyboard

August 5, 2015 by Darren Allan

The Strafe RGB Silent is the first keyboard in the world to feature Cherry MX Silent switches, which Corsair claims offer the precision of mechanical switches but with a significantly quieter typing noise thanks to “exclusive patented noise reduction technology”.

In fact, the company claims that the switches, in combination with the noise suppressing design of the chassis itself, means this keyboard is 30% quieter than rival mechanical gaming keyboards.

That's not exactly silent, of course, but it should be a whole lot easier on the lugholes of anyone within earshot (and of course the user himself, or herself).

The keyboard also boasts RGB backlighting which in conjunction with the Corsair Utility Engine software can create all sorts of groovy multi-coloured lighting effects including "cascading rainbows” and “dynamic ripples".

As well as the Strafe RGB Silent keyboard, there will be a plain Strafe RGB version without the fancy ultra-quiet mechanical switches – instead this will come with either Cherry MX Red or Brown switches.

Corsair also revealed a new VOID gaming headset (in wireless, USB and analogue flavours) featuring customisable RGB lighting and Dolby 7.1 surround sound in the wireless and USB models. The headset is also supposed to deliver a premium experience in terms of comfort, with ear cups which are specially shaped to fit the human ear.

Finally, the company also pulled out a new mouse, the Scimitar RGB gaming mouse that boasts a 'key slider' control system, which, according to the press release spotted by Tech Powerup, "provides 8mm of adjustment, putting every button within reach of most gamers' thumbs regardless of hand size for improved comfort and accuracy".

The mouse has no less than 12 mechanical side buttons, and offers 12,000 DPI in terms of precision.

The headset will be out in August retailing at $80 (around £50), with the mouse to follow in September at the same price point.

The Strafe RGB mechanical keyboards will be last to market in October, priced at $150 (around £95) for the vanilla version, and $160 (around £100) for the silent model.
