Sony Unleashes ILME FX30 Camera

Sony India today announced the latest addition to the Cinema Line – the FX30 (ILME-FX30). The new FX30 is a 4K Super 35 compact cinema camera that offers many professional features of the Cinema Line, such as Dual Base ISO, Log shooting modes and user imported LUTs.  Sony has launched the camera in two variants – FX30 (Body + XLR Handle) and FX30B (Body only).

The FX30 features a new back-illuminated 20.1 megapixels APS-C Exmor R CMOS sensor with a dual base ISO to deliver high sensitivity, low noise, and 14+ stops of latitude. It also features Log shooting modes by enabling Cine El, Cine El Quick, and Flexible ISO modes for recording with the S-Log3 gamma curve, which allows greater flexibility when colour grading. All three modes allow video shooting while monitoring with an appropriate LUT to preview the final image.

The FX30 can shoot 4K Super 35 (16:9) by oversampling from 6K at up to 60fps. The FX30B also features the ability to shoot in high frame rates, including 4K at 120fps and full HD at 240fps. 16:9 recording modes can shoot at 10-bit 4:2:2 while an HDMI Type-A connector can be used to output 4K, 16-bit RAW to an external recorder.

The FX30 features Sony’s fast and reliable autofocus, with settings including: Real-time Eye AF (human, animal, or bird), Real-time Tracking, Detailed AF settings, AF Assist. The camera also includes effective stabilisation for run and gun shoots using Active Mode. The FX30 includes added functionality to assist with the creative workflow, such as post-production editing using embedded LUT, and EI metadata.

The FX30 also features an XLR handle unit, which can be used to capture low-angle shots and also allows filmmakers to capture crystal clear audio through various audio inputs, including two XLR audio inputs and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack for 4-channel recording. External microphones can be connected directly to the camera via the Multi Interface Shoe or microphone jack. The FX30 also features an internal stereo microphone for audio recording.

The FX30 and FX30B are equipped with two memory card slots that are compatible with both CFexpress Type A cards and SDXC/SDHC cards, bringing wide range of shooting experiences to creators. The FX30 is also compatible with large capacity CFexpress Type A memory cards.

The FX30 camera will be available across all Sony Center, Alpha Flagship stores, www.ShopatSC.com portal, major electronic stores and ecommerce websites (Amazon and Flipkart) from 15th Feb 2023 onwards. Hikvision Reveals TandemVu PTZ Cameras

Hikvision has launched its new TandemVu PTZ camera range, which integrates PTZ and bullet camera capabilities into a single unit. The cameras allow security teams to continue monitoring large areas with no interruptions, while simultaneously zooming in to monitor specific security incidents that occur.

7C series

The cameras provide high-definition imaging with 2 x 4MP lenses and a super-wide view of 180°. Its bullet unit features Hikvision’s ColorVu technology, which provides full-colour imaging, while its PTZ unit employs Hikvision DarkFighter technology that enables HD colour images down to 0.0005 Lux. Engineered with AI, the cameras can differentiate between moving objects such as falling leaves, heavy rain or animals. They can also, reportedly, differentiate between vehicles and people and use smart linkages to check on trespassers as they move within the PTZ coverage. The cameras boast of advanced security, owing to its AI chipset that allows deep learning algorithms available for complex scenarios, including automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), facial recognition and multi-target-type detection, among others. They use sound and light alarms that warn would-be trespassers before they enter a site or building. Hikvision reports that the cameras reduce installation, configuration and maintenance costs.

8C series

The latest devices have been grouped into two product families viz. the SF8C series and the SE7C series. The SF8C series provides two bullet lenses with 180° panoramic view, come with ColorVu technology, incorporate AI algorithms and offer 42x optical zoom capabilities. The SE7C series features one bullet lens, come with ColorVu and AcuSense technologies and support up to 32x optical zoom.

TP-Link launches Tapo C200 – an HD home security camera

The Tapo C200 Pan/Tilt Home Security Wi-Fi Camera is TP-Link’s latest addition to its expanding smart home product line. Home security is something that should never be compromised and the Tapo C200 deserves a look. It’s affordable price and ease-of-use will help users have a watch on their home and loved ones.

The Tapo C200 is essentially a home security Wi-Fi camera that offers a 1080p resolution and an impressive 30 feet of night vision. The C200 is also equipped to pan and tilt thereby covering a 360 degrees of horizontal view and 114 degrees of vertical view.

The new mirrorless Nikon Z6II and Z7II feature some top-of-the-line upgrades

Nikon has launched new and improved additions to the Z series of mirrorless cameras. Set to launch this November and December, respectively, the Nikon Z 6II and the Z 7II are the new iterations of the relatively-new Nikon Z6 and Z7, which were also Nikon’s first offerings in the premium mirrorless range of cameras. The Z 6II and the Z 7II – both of which are FX-format (full-frame) cameras – come with a range of improvements in processing power, speed, storage, photo and video capabilities.  

Starting with the Nikon Z 6II, it offers good number of options for imaging and videos. Users will be able to capture full-frame 4K UHD or Full HD in both FX- and DX-based movie formats, either in 8-bit, 10-bit N-log or HDR, or a 12-bit raw video output, which enables better editing and colour correction capabilities.

The Z 6II is powered by the dual EXPEED 6 image-processing engine. The upgraded mirrorless camera can shoot up to 14 frames per second with AF and AE tracking. The mechanical shutter speed ranges from 1/8000 sec to 900 sec and Nikon assures the users that they should ‘rest easy knowing you will not miss the action or having to worry about the rolling shutter effect”. Supporting dual card slots, the Z 6II is compatible with CFexpress (Type B), XQD or SD (UHS-II) cards.

The Z 6II also boasts eye-detection, animal-detection, auto-area, wide-area AF technologies. Low-light AF is also significantly better as the camera focuses until a range of -6 EV as well. The 705g camera features a 3690k-dot Quad-VGA EVF.

The Nikon Z 6II will be available from November 5, 2020 for a price of Rs. 1,64,995 (body only) and Rs. 2,09,995 (with the Z 24-70mm F/4 S lens).  

The Nikon Z 7II, on the other hand, enables users to capture 4K videos at 60p and 10-bit N-log or the optional 12-bit raw output. Compatible with the excellent range of Z-mount lenses, the Nikon Z 7II is also powered by the dual EXPEED 6 image-processing engines, with low-light AF going up to -4EV.

The Z II can capture a blistering 77 shots with a single burst and supports continuous shooting of up to 10fps through the ‘Continuous H+’ setting. The Z 7II offers similar storage capacities and compatibilities of the Z 6II and has the same AF-technologies in place as well.

The Nikon Z 7II will be available from December 10, 2020 for a price of Rs. 2,49,995 (body only) and Rs. 2,94,995 (with the Z 24-70mm F/4 S lens).

GoPro Hero9 Black can capture 5K videos and 20MP photos

GoPro has announced their new camera – the Hero9 Black – which is going to be available in India from late October this year. The Hero9 Black offers some serious upgrade over its predecessor and packs in new features, making it a favourable companion for travellers, athletes and others.

The GoPro Hero9 features a new image sensor which is capable of capturing 20MP RAW photographs and shooting 5K videos at 30fps. Additionally, the Hero9 can shoot 4K videos at 60fps, 2.7K videos at 120fps, 1440p at 120fps, and 1080p videos at a whopping 240fps. This is nothing short of exciting and the Hero9 is more than well-equipped to produce imagery and videos which can bring out the best from great display screens to create some stunning visuals. The Hero9 Blacks capabilities are enhanced through features and modes like SuperPhoto, HRD Night lapse video, HindSight, LiveBurst, Scheduled and Duration Capture.

The Hero9 Black also features a new 1.4” front-facing colour display with live preview and status modes. The rear touch display is larger, measuring at about 2.27” and with touch zoom. GoPro also claims that the Hero9 Black is bolstered with improved cold-weather performance and in general, the Hero9 Black provides 30% more battery life than the Hero8 Black, originally estimated to be to up to 1 hour if used continuously. Thus, users would still prefer to carry an extra pair of batteries or a power bank, if the desired usage is more.

This new action camera also has some next-generation features such as HyperSmooth3.0 video stabilization with in-camera horizon levelling, 1080p Webcam mode and Live Streaming, TimeWarp 3.0 with ‘Real Speed’ and ‘Half Speed’. Impressively, the Hero9 Black is also capable of being voice controlled, through 14 commands that can be said in 11 different languages with multiple accents.

The Hero9 Black has exceptional audio quality through 3 microphones which are bolstered through advanced noise reduction, a larger speaker, and through stereo and RAW audio capture.

Being waterproof until a depth of 33ft, the Hero9 Black’s capabilities can be scaled through new mods like the Max Lens Mod (Rs. 10,500 – which ‘brings unbreakable Max HyperSmooth video stabilization and low-distortion, ultra-wide Max SuperView to HERO9 Black at up to 2.7K60 resolution), Light Mod, Display Mod, and Media Mod.

The GoPro Hero9 Black will be available for Rs. 49,500 and it comes with a travel case which is compatible with additional mounts and accessories.
