Asus’ ProArt range of products were launched in 2011 with the goal of meeting the needs of professionals in fields such as photography, filmmaking, and other creative disciplines such as design, architecture, game development, animation, engineering, you name it. Recently, Asus announced that it has partnered with Portrait Displays and deployed the use of the latter’s widely-known Calman colour-calibrating tech on Asus’ 5 latest ProArt monitors.
Portrait Displays’ Calman software is a colour-calibrating tool used and trusted by colour professionals across areas like films, broadcasting, and more. Now, as a result of this new collaboration, 5 new ProArt displays will be integrated with validated through the Calman software, deeming them to be either ‘Calman Ready’ or ‘Calman Verified’.
Three of five of the new ProArt displays, namely, the PA32UCX, PA32UCX-P and PA27UCX are ‘Calman Ready’ which means that these models directly communicate with the Calman software, thus enabling control over colour-accuracy tuning and uniformity compensation. These Calman Ready ProArt displays can be connected to different computers or devices without constantly adjusting or changing the colour settings as the colour profiles can be activated through the display itself. Thus there’s no need to depend on a particular computer connection.
The other two, that is, the ASUS ProArt Display PA248QV and PA278QV are declared to be ‘Calman Verified’. This label signifies that these displays assure world-class colour accuracy for creatives, even in their default factory settings. Studio-quality standards are met when it comes to specifications like the colour temperatures, gamut, DDC/CI communication, brightness and the Delta E<2 accuracy.
These seals of approval of Hollywood-trusted Portrait Displays’ Calman is definitely noteworthy as the need of rendering accurate colours, sharper textures and crisper-quality deliverables has never been higher. We feel that these displays will be met with some positive feedback from creators in various fields.
