Now you can jump into the Star Wars universe

November 24, 2015 by James Peckham

A new Google Cardboard VR experience is launching on December 2 that will mean you can fully immerse yourself into the Star Wars universe.

It’ll come out on the official Star Wars app for both iOS and Android.

There’s been an awakening

It’s official content made by Industrial Light and Magic’s AR and VR department. That’s the same team that previously made a VR video for Facebook that saw you ride on a speeder across the Tatooine desert.

There’s a specially designed Star Wars cardboard available in the US through Verizon, but it’s not quite certain whether that’ll be coming to the UK. You may have to just use your standard Google Cardboard unless you’re a particularly good artist.

What’s not exactly certain yet is where we’ll be visiting, but the creators have confirmed it ties directly into the opening scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The writer of Steve Jobs still uses an iPod Classic

November 9, 2015 by James Peckham

Sorkin has written the new film about Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender and directed by Danny Boyle, and he used quite a bit of the company’s tech in the process.

He told T3, “I still listen to music on my iPod. I like the clicking wheel. It’s the classic one, in black. And I just love that wheel – Steve really did know what he was doing.”

If it ain’t broke…

Sorkin is no stranger to Apple technology. He also said, “Everything I’ve ever written I’ve written on a Mac. I have an iPhone in my pocket.”

Sorkin also wrote the screenplay for Steve Jobs on four different Apple Macs including a desktop at home, an iMac in his office and two different MacBooks.

He also used the dedicated screenplay writing software Final Draft to get the words down on the page.

Set faces to stunned – Star Trek’s coming back to the small screen

November 2, 2015 by T3.com

That’s so long to wait, but according to the initial rumours on Hollywood Reporter producer Alex Kurtzman is still looking for writers for the new show.

So if you feel you’ve got what it takes why not drop him a line…

Kurtzman is the producer behind the current Star Trek movie franchise, but the new TV series is reportedly not going to be related to the upcoming Star Trek Beyond movie that’s coming out next year. Whether or not that means the new show will be running along the same alternate timeline as the latest adventures of the Enterprise’s crew, or whether it will treat the existing TV shows as canon, we just don’t know.

It could be Star Trek, but not as we know it.

CBS has announced that it will be a brand new cast of characters though it does say they’ll be seeking out imaginative new worlds and new civilisations, which makes it sound a lot like the original series and The Next Generation’s ongoing missions.

The new series will be created specifically for CBS All Access, it’s own on-demand streaming platform, but have no fear, CBS will also distribute the new show to run concurrently ‘for television and multiple platforms around the world.’

New remote turns PS4 in to an all-round media powerhouse

October 9, 2015 by T3 Online

That’s because Sony has finally debuted the Universal Media Remote for the console that means you won’t be wasting the Li-ion batteries on your precious video games controllers for much longer.

The remote, clearly geared towards movie and box set fans, looks exactly the same as a regular DVD player or TV remote except that it features the D-pad and buttons that you’d usually find on the PS4 controllers.

It connects up to the PS4 via Bluetooth and the fun doesn’t end there. The technology on board allows you to control up to three additional devices, which can be anything from TVs and set-top boxes, to DVD players and audio systems.

From launch it will work with a vast range of different apps including Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, PlayStation Video, the on-board Blu-ray player, Crunchyroll and a range of other apps only available in the US.

There’s currently no definitive release date for the remote yet Sony has already confirmed it will be priced at $29.99 with users in the US, Mexico and Canada able to put in an order for one later this month.
