Kenstar PowerChef 6L Air Fryer Review

A Family-Sized Air Fryer That Keeps Things Simple

The air fryer market has reached a stage where differentiation is increasingly difficult. Most products promise healthier cooking, faster meal preparation, and a growing list of preset programmes. The Kenstar PowerChef 6L enters this crowded space with a straightforward proposition: a seamless design that doesn’t look out of place in a modern kitchen, a large cooking basket to serve the entire family, and touchscreen controls with presets for everyday cooking.

At first glance, the PowerChef looks more premium than itsmodest price tag suggests. Finished in black with stainless steel accents, it has a clean, contemporary design that would look at home on most kitchen countertops. Plus, for a 6L capacity fryer, it’s quite compact with a boxy design that fits well both in a corner or on a dedicated shelf.
Build quality is respectable, although the appliance’s largely plastic construction reminds you that this is positioned squarely in the mass market rather than the premium end of the category. It’s light enough to move around when required but not flimsy or fragile, mind you. The handle is comfortable to grip, and well balanced when you’re pulling out a full basket.

Unlike some other Kenstar models though, this does not have a transparent viewing window which allows users to check progress without interrupting the cooking cycle.

The headline specification is the 6-litre basket, placing it firmly in the family-friendly category. For households cooking for 3-4 people like ours, that capacity comfortably accommodate a batch of fries, chicken portions, or a tray of vegetables without requiring multiple rounds. But when I had to prepare a single dish for the entire meal, and hence a larger portion, I had to repeat the grind, of course.

Performance is backed by a 1500W heating system—the fryer heats quickly and maintains consistent temperatures. In practical terms, this translates into crisp exteriors and reasonably even cooking, especially for frozen snacks and roasted foods. Foods emerge with satisfying texture, but don’t expect the exact richness of oil-fried dishes or what some top-of-the-line air fryers can offer.
The touchscreen interface adds to the appliance’s ease of use. It’s intuitive and easy to operate even with slightly wet or oily fingers.

Preset cooking programmes reduce the learning curve for first-time air fryer buyers, making it easy to jump from fries to vegetables or chicken without hit-and-trial experiments or referring to recipes online. For users like me who’ve been using an air fryer for a decade, the ability to make manual adjustments and fine-tune cooking times works well.

Verdict
The Kenstar PowerChef 6L does not attempt to reinvent the air fryer. It’s not shooting for the stars either. Instead, it focuses on the features that matter most: generous capacity, easy controls, and a seamless chassis. It gets the fundamentals right, and the straightforward touchscreen experience keeps everyday cooking uncomplicated.
For families upgrading from a smaller model or first-time buyers seeking a capable, no-nonsense air fryer, it delivers a balanced package without a huge dent in your wallet.
