Headphone Zone x KZ EDX Pro Review

Words: Nikhail Andrade

The Headphone Zone x KZ EDX Pro is an accessible entry point into the IEM world with just the right fundamentals.

I was particularly excited for this collaboration since I’ve been following the growth of Headphone Zone. The Headphone Zone KZ EDX Pro, is designed like a true in-ear monitor, but it falls just a tiny bit shy of ergonomic perfection. While the shape doesn’t offer the best passive noise isolation, the over-the-ear configuration ensures that it stays put securely during use. I was pleasantly surprised by how lightweight these feel—despite their IEM build, they don’t weigh down on the ears and can be worn for hours without much fatigue.

Sound-wise, they definitely have potential. The default tuning is decent with strong bass response, but it edges a bit sharp on the highs. This makes an equaliser tweak a necessity for a more balanced experience to suit your taste. The direct plug-and-play usability without a DAC is a big win, especially with the USB-C variant, which spares you the extra hassle of add-ons. Of course, adding a DAC later is always a worthwhile upgrade.

The microphone handles audio calls well, without the typical annoyance of having to pull your mic closer, making it a functional daily-use pair in addition to music listening.

This IEM earns its spot as a really solid introduction for someone stepping into enthusiast-grade audio. It checks the right essential boxes: comfort, lightweight build, good sound, and all the ease-of-use needed for beginners without overwhelming them with gear.
