This is the most mini Mac Mini there’s ever been, and the first redesign of the Mini in over ten years. Perhaps the reduced case space is a positive result of the efficiency of the M4 – indeed, there’s no option to have an 8-core version, with the 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU offered as standard, and the option of a 12/16 or even 14/20 core Pro chip upgrade if you’re really looking to push those creative tasks. Apple’s choice to put the power button on the bottom of the Mac mini is, yes, a blunder on par with the Magic Mouse’s undercarriage charging port, but we’d wager that many don’t fully power down their machines. What’s important is the performance – this might even have enough guts to topple the Mac Studio, which remains tied to the top two M2 chips
