First showcased at MWC 2017 last month, Sony launched the Xperia XZs for India today. The highlight of the device is the super slow motion camera capturing video at 960fps.
The rear sensor comes with a Motion Eye camera with a 1/2.3″ Exmor RS memory stacked sensor with predictive hybrid Autofocus and predictive capturing. Super slow motion recording requires pressing a special button on-screen but it is limited only to 0.2 seconds which is then output as a 6 second video. Predictive capturing detects movement in the frame and is able to store upto 4 frames giving users more options to select the best snap.
The battery charging system uses a combination of Qnovo and Quick Charge 3.0 to power the battery through the USB Type C port. The look with the thick bezels is similar to other Sony devices due to the unified design the company adopted although here Alkaleido metal has been used which is said to be a new form of aluminium. As with other Sony smartphones, the XZs supports PS4 Remote Play letting users stream from the device and play on their smartphone. An optional Game Control Mount accessory can be used to hold the Xperia securely while playing. Xperia Tips has received a refresh and hi-res audio playback is supported.
Priced at Rs.49,999, the Sony XZs will go on sale from 11 April in both offline and online channels. For a limited period until the 10th, customers can pre-book on Flipkart and retail stores to get a free Sony Bluetooth speaker worth Rs.4,990.
