Warner Brothers Entertainment officially confirmed the existence of Injustice 2 from developer NetherRealm with a CG trailer. New to the game is a Gear System using RPG-like mechanics to reward players with loot drops every time they play the game. These items will let players customize character outfits making their own version of say, Batman unique in comparison to other player versions. Environment destruction and interaction are also making a comeback.
Returning characters confirmed from the trailer are Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Superman while Supergirl is new to the series. Developer NetherRealm has also confirmed villains Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus as playable characters in the sequel. Atlantis, Gotham and Metropolis are confirmed as battle locations.
Currently it is not known whether the game will follow the storyline from the DC digital comic series or will ignore it and just continue from the ending of the first game.
Injustice is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2017.
