Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is the free game from Ubisoft this month

November 22, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

The standalone expansion to Far Cry 3 is the current free offering from Ubisoft to celebrate the penultimate month of the Ubi30 celebrations.

Blood Dragon is set in the year 2007 where the world is suffering the aftermath of a nuclear war. The premise of the game is a homage to the ’80s VHS Sci-Fi films with its neon visuals and synthwave soundtrack. It is intentionally riddled with tropes associated with the era to make it feel like a product of the time.

The game uses the same engine and gameplay mechanics as Far Cry 3 but is a more focused and linear experience. The skill tree is replaced with a leveling system automatically unlocking benefits while crafting has been removed entirely.

Grab it from here.

The free games offered till now:
June: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
July: Splinter Cell
August: Rayman: Origins
September: The Crew
October: Beyond Good & Evil

The Crew features an open and persistent world for racing and free roaming across a map that is split into five regions with each having its own unique geographical features. It takes approximately 45 minutes in real time to traverse the in-game map from coast to coast.

As part of Ubisoft’s Anniversary celebration, Rayman: Origins is the free game for the month of August. The game supports multiplayer co-op allowing for upto 4 different players who can drop in and drop out at any time.

Origins was critically a hit but commercially it did not sell as well as Ubisoft had hoped but sales were enough to garner a sequel, Rayman Legends, released in 2014.
