OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition goes on sale from tomorrow

Hot on the heels of the new Star Wars movie release, OnePlus announced the OnePlus 5T Star Wars limited edition in India. The phone will coincide with the movie release tomorrow.

The OnePlus 5T Star Wars is same as the regular OnePlus 5T when it comes to hardware but differentiates itself in design. The limited edition comes in a sandstone white finish colour with Star Wars logo imprinted at the back and Alert Slider getting a red colour. The phone also features exclusive Star Wars wallpapers and a theme.

The phone will sell in limited numbers at Rs. 38,999 on Amazon and oneplusstore.in as well as OnePlus experience store in India.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 5T last month and now they’ve announced the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition that will go on sale from 15th of this month. The phone, as far as hardware goes, seems similar to the OnePlus 5T but brings in the special Star Wars logo, white colour and a red-accentuated alert slider as part of the special edition.

We’re not sure how many units will be up for grabs but given it’s a limited edition, expect the phone to be available in limited numbers. OnePlus will sell the phone across all its existing sales channels, which includes online and their own experience stores.

OnePlus is unveiling the phone on December 14, and if you’re a OnePlus or a Star Wars fan, you can attend the launch event by paying Rs. 999 on Paytm from December 7.

OnePlus 5T event officially confirmed for 16 November

The OnePlus 5T next-generation smartphone has been confirmed for an official launch in Brooklyn, New York on 16 November at 21.30 IST.

The company just sent out announcements about the launch event which is called “A New View”. The keynote event will be aired live on the OnePlus site where you can sign-up to be involved now. Or if you’re feeling really decadent you can even buy tickets for Rs. 99 on Bookmyshow where the event will be streamed live at select PVR theatres across Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.

Sales for the OnePlus 5T will start on 21 November at 4.30PM IST on Amazon India and OnePlus Store.

So what does the “New View” refer to? Rumours suggests this will be the first phone created by OnePlus to feature a 2:1 display ratio. As such the AMOLED display is expected to be a 2160 x 1080 resolution.

The OnePlus 5T is also rumoured to feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 CPU with up to 8GB of RAM. It should also sport dual rear 20-megapixel cameras and a 3,300mAh battery with Dash Charging.

After having a global launch just 2 days back, OnePlus 5 has officially been made available in India today at a grand event in Mumbai. Fans were also invited with a pass being charged at Rs.999 providing various bonuses inside.

The highlight of the device is the dual camera setup at the rear touted by the company to have gone through a lot of testing. It comprises of a 16MP regular lens with 1.12um pixel and f/1.7 aperture while the other is a 20MP telephoto lens with 1um pixel and f/2.6 aperture. The company claims that the dual setup can provide Bokeh effects and lossless 2x zoom. There is no Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) although there is Electric Image Stabilisation (EIS). The front camera has a 16MP resolution with 1um pixel and f/2.0 aperture.

The device is priced at Rs.32,999 for the 6GB+64GB Slate Grey variant while the 8GB+128GB Midnight Black version costs Rs.37,999. It will be available for sale on Amazon India and the OnePlus store.

OnePlus 3T Midnight Black is a go

The limited edition OnePlus 3T in Midnight Black can finally be yours starting today. OnePlus has been hard at work for almost a year and experimented with over 30 variations but was unable to get the premium deep black coat it desired. The company finally achieved success by applying a dark coating of just 14 microns across the surface of the phone and at the same time retaining the look and feel of naked metal.

While it has been built using the same space grade aluminium of the earlier OP3 and OP3T, the company has warned consumers that there might be a chance of the Midnight Black device to develop micro-abrasions from regular use. They recommend using a protective case which is similar to the issues earlier seen on the Jet Black iPhone 7.

The Midnight Black variant is available only in the 128GB storage variant priced at Rs.34,999. The device goes on sale exclusively on Amazon India from 2pm today.
