With an attempt to push every aspect of a smartphone to the next level, Motorola have possibly outdone themselves with the new Edge+ and Edge which are going to be released in India soon. Whether it’s gaming, photography, streaming content, speed, you name it – the Motorola’s flagship phones: the Edge+ and Edge are certainly promising.
Both the smartphones are equipped with a 6.7-inch Endless Edge display – that wraps nearly 90-degrees around both sides of the device – which offers a 90Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and a cinematic aspect ratio of 21:9 to aid binging on content for hours. When not in use, the display edges light up to show the battery charging status, incoming calls and other notifications. These 5G-compatible phones also support speeds of over 4 Gbps.
With up to 12GB of RAM, the Motorola Edge+ is built for efficiency offering smooth performances in areas of gaming, photography and filming as it also runs on the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Gamers would be pleased to learn that when the phone is turned sideways to play, they can also use 2 additional, customisable buttons on the top edge of the screen for a better and more-enhanced control system.
Now, Motorola has taken a huge step towards perfecting their camera systems in the Edge+ and Edge. The Edge+ offers a quad-camera system in the rear with an impressive 108MP main camera, a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens, 8MP telephoto lens with high-res optical zoom and a macro lens. This is significantly better than Motorola’s previous 12MP cameras on their flagship products. Utilising a Quad Pixel technology, the Edge+ promises to give detailed photos in all sorts of lighting. Creators would love the fact that the Edge+ is capable of recording 6K videos which are made better through optical and electronic image stabilisation techniques, this giving them a head start for future online platforms.
The Edge+ is also equipped with impressive stereo speakers produced by the award-winning Waves. Motorola have also built a ‘My UX’ on top of Android 10, which enables users to be in control of their mobile experience through custom settings and advanced controls in music, games, and more.
The Motorola Edge, however, runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 and is equipped with a triple-camera system with a 64MP main lens, 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with Macro, and an 8MP telephoto lens. The Edge features a 4500mAh battery while the Edge+ is powered by a large 5000mAh battery.
We can’t wait to get our hands on these phones sooner. We’re still awaiting their release dates and price details in India and but expect the Edge+ to be anywhere around Rs. 60-80k. Motorola has been on a creative-spree these past few years and it’s exciting to have one of the older brands rise up to the occasion.
