LeEco launches Le 1s Eco with new membership programme

Riding high on the success of its Le 1s smartphone, China’s LeEco has added another budget device to its arsenal – Le 1s Eco. While the phone is essentially similar to the original, it comes with an entertainment package that makes it really easy to enjoy music, movies and videos while you’re on the move.

LeEco has collaborated with Hungama for LeEco Music, Eros Now for Le Vidi and YuppTV for live streaming. The company says that the entertainment package costs Rs 4,900 annually or Rs 490 if you pay monthly but the package, including the phone, is priced at Rs 10,899. In fact, for the first flash sale that goes live on 2PM on Flipkart on May 12, it will sell for Rs 9,999.

The phone has a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920×1080 display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, USB Type-C and a 3000mAh battery.

The LeEco Le 1S sold out within 2 seconds in the Flipkart exclusive flash sale held on February 1, 2016. Over 5.5 lakh registrations were received for the sale but only 70,000 units were sold, which left many fuming.

A big reason for the high demand is the extremely competitive pricing of Rs 10,999 packs in features mostly found in higher end phones. The highlights include a fingerprint scanner, Helio X10 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, all housed in a metal unibody weighing 169 gms.

LeEco is reportedly selling the phone at a loss as the manufacturing price is said to be Rs 16,042. The company has in place 555 service centres spread across 300 locations within the country offering 24-hour customer care.

Registrations for the next flash sale have already started and are open till February 9. The sale will close at 11 a.m. though, an hour before it goes on sale at 12 p.m. on the same day. If you want one for yourself, get busy on a computer closest to you!
