Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced under display fingerprint technology which is an industry first. The company also unveiled improvements to DSP and Hi-Fi audio.
The technology is based on Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensor and can be positioned under glass (0.8mm), OLED screen (1.2mm) and an aluminium cover (0.525mm). Vivo has used ultrasonic technology emitting ultrasonic waves that can fully capture the impression of a fingerprint. Since it is water resistant, it surpasses limitations of capacitive fingerprints generally having problems to unlock a device with wet hands.
Additionally, the company also revealed independent DSP Photography Solution which is said to improve backlighting and night scene photography. Processing speed has been improved along with noise reduction in night scene photography as well as better beautification effects in Vivo’s Face Beauty Mode.
Hi-Fi audio also receives a boost with the introduction of a customised DAC decoding chip. It can provide twice the output amplitude with an SNR of 122dB, dynamic range of 120dB, distortion of -111dB and output power of 2.2VRms.
