Facebook has opened up access to the beta build of its gaming portal, appropriately titled ‘Gameroom’. Available on PC for Windows 7 OS and above, it lets users play mobile ports, browser-based and exclusive Gameroom games in the app.
Soon, developers will be able to create games in Unity export them straight to Gameroom and WebGL API. The storefront is similar to GoG and Steam with Facebook taking 30 per cent of the revenue, but in all likelihood, be focusing on different genres. Gameroom wants to tap into the casual game market and attract mobile game players by bring them over to PC. Facebook claims that developing natively for Gameroom is easier and takes lesser time in comparison to HTML5.
