Lumio today opened public beta access for Project Neo, built on Lumio’s TLDR App, a new content discovery experience that lets users find and play content on their Lumio devices by simply messaging in plain language over WhatsApp or Instagram. Instead of typing with a remote, jumping across apps, or remembering where a show lives, users can just say what they want to watch, in multiple languages, and Neo brings it to the Lumio devices.
Project Neo, Lumio’s patent pending technology, is its loudest statement yet that the next leap in television/projector will not come only from bigger screens, faster chips, or higher refresh rates. It will come from software that understands intent. As smart TVs converge on similar hardware claims, Lumio is focusing on the widening gap between where people discover content, in their chats and feeds, and where they actually watch it, on the TV: deciding what to watch, finding it quickly, and getting it onto the screen without friction.
“A colleague mentions a show over lunch, a friend sends a reel of the latest trailer, your wife texts you things to watch on WhatsApp. Then you sit down in front of the TV and it’s all forgotten, so you’re doomed to scroll. That gap between where we discover content and where we actually watch it is exactly what Neo closes. WhatsApp and Instagram are where India already types, voice chats, and shares, so that’s where Neo lives too. You just say what you’re in the mood for, or forward the reel, and it’s on your screen. People shouldn’t have to learn a new app to watch TV better. That, to us, is what ‘Tech that Sparks Joy’ means: removing the friction between people and the content they actually want to watch,” said Kailash Sankaranarayanan, Co-Founder & COO, Circuit House Technologies.
Ask Naturally. Share Instantly. Watch on the Big Screen.
TLDR’s Neo is designed around how people already behave. Users can ask by title, actor, director, genre, mood, language, or even a half-remembered plot. If they are unsure what to watch, they can simply say they are bored or ask for recommendations, and Neo will surface trending picks across supported platforms.
Instagram adds another layer of discovery. If users spot a post, poster, or screenshot about a film or show, they can share it with Neo. Neo identifies the title and sends it to the TLDR app on the Lumio Vision TV / Arc Projector.
“For too long, the television industry has defined progress through hardware specifications. Those things matter, but they don’t solve the everyday problem of finding something worth watching. Project Neo on TLDR is proof that the biggest upgrade to the TV/Projector experience can come from software that understands people better. With this public beta, we’re inviting our users across India to help shape what the future of television discovery should feel like,” said Raghu Reddy, CEO, Circuit House Technologies.
