Ambrane India, manufacturer of computer peripherals and mobile accessories has entered the audio segment with BT 6000 Touch lamp speakers. The compact device not only plays music but also lets users cycle through 7 light modes. It also supports hands-free calling due to the wireless microphone.

The dimmable controlled lights can be adjusted with just a tap of the hand to suit the occasion. Effectively, they can be used as a night lamp or even as party speakers. The cylindrical shaped speaker is small enough to fit in the palm of your hands thanks to the ergonomic design with in-built LED lights and buttons. The magnetic trumpet inside helps the 3 RMS speakers resonate through any solid surface.

The BT-6000 has a range of 10m and a battery backup of 1,200mAh supporting upto 6 hours of music playback. Along with Bluetooth v3 connectivity, it also comes with an auxilairy port to let users connect devices like an MP3 player and other audio sources via a 3.5mm audio port. The device can also read microSD and TF memory cards.

Portronics debut Harmonics 202 bluetooth earphones

Portronics introduced their first stereo Bluetooth earphones in the form of the Harmonics 202. Both earbuds act as a smart magnetic switch so they can be connected or separated to easily pair,play or pause music and answer calls. Tangle-free neckwire has been used along with an in-line microphone to save users from untangling the wires. The headset can be turned on or off just by using the smart magnetic switch. So when the earphones are attached together as a magnet, the switch turns off any songs or audio.

The earbuds give users around 5 hours of music on a single recharge as it uses low power consuming Bluetooth v4.1. The Harmonics 202 have an ergonomic design and ear-hooks so that they can be used for extended periods of time without causing irritation in the ears. It also comes bundled with small, medium and large earbuds in the package. They are also quite lightweight at just 16 grams.

Portronics offers an affordable sound system with the Soundchief

Portronics has launched the Soundchief portable audio system for the budget conscious. It offers sound in a robust design with solid construction quality. Setting it up is a cinch with its supported plug and play technology.

It supports connectivity options like Bluetooth, USB drive, Aux-in, Micro SD Card and COAXIAL. Instead of just acting as an amplifier, the device can also act as a portable Home Sound System. It supports playback from devices like TVs, mobile phones, tablet, laptop, DVD/CD players etc. The supplied remote control provides basic volume controls and track navigation.

Available in black colour, the Soundchief retails for Rs.5,999.

Brainwavz M1 is a decent IEM if you’re looking for a balanced sound

Chances are you may not have heard about Brainwavz as a brand but as it stands, they do come out with some good audio products. Delta range is a good example. Brainwavz launched the M1 in-ear monitor (IEM) last month and we’ve been giving it a thorough test to see if they’re worth the asking price.

The M1 sales package is bundled with a hardcase along with 6 sets of silicone ear tips (S/M/L size), 1 set of Comply Foam Tips S-400, 1 set of silicone bi-flange tips, 1 shirt clip and velcro cable tie.

Our initial impression of the M1 was how flimsy it looks and will it hold during the everyday commute in Mumbai locals but we’re happy to report it did, and how! Despite the deceiving looks, the M1 is sturdy enough for everyday use. And even surprising is the fact that these small earphones pack in 10.7mm drivers.

In terms of audio quality, the M1’s 10.7mm drivers have an impedance of 32 ohms and sounds true to its description – balanced. Over the course of few weeks, we played a number of tracks ranging from pop to EDM and the audio quality was pretty good throughout. The wide soundstage also helps to add to the overall audio quality. However, don’t expect it to be bass heavy as this particular IEM is geared more towards a neutral sound.

If we talk about ergonomics, the bundled silicone ear tips do a decent job but Comply tips enhance the experience, fit for a prolong listening session. The noise isolation also works fairly well with the M1.

The Brainwavz M1 is priced at Rs. 2,999 and while it may not be premium-looking as its asking price, the sound quality and bundled tips and other accessories make up for it.

New Sony portable speakers now available in India

Two high-power portable home audio systems have been launched by Sony for the Indian Market. The GT4D and V44D support Near Field Communication (NFC) and bluetooth connectivity enabling them to run on a large variety of devices. They also include input for AUX, DVD, USB and FM.

The devices can be controlled remotely using the SongPal app developed by Sony for Android and iOS. Both speakers feature DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) technology that upscales compressed audio content. Sony’s LDAC allows users to stream high quality audio over bluetooth.

Both the speakers are lightweight and built to be highly portable. The V44D has built-in handles while the larger GT4D comes with small wheels and a pull out handle much like a strolley.

The GT4D is priced at Rs. 50,990 and V44D costs Rs. 29,990 currently on sale at all Sony retail stores across the country.
