The global unveiling of the Oppo Reno 2 series took place today in India coming only a few months after Reno. The series consists of 3 devices namely Reno 2, Reno 2Z and Reno 2F.
Oppo Reno 2 sports a 6.55″ FHD+ (1080×2400) Dynamic AMOLED display with 93.1% screen-to-body ratio that is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 while the rear gets Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage. The G3 optical in-display fingerprint sensor has been implemented instead of a rear mounted sensor. A rear quad camera debuts for the first time on Oppo devices consisting of a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor, 13MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom and 20x digital zoom, 8MP wide-angle camera with 116 degree field of view and a 2MP monochrome lens. The shark-fin style elevating camera returns housing a 16MP selfie snapper.
The camera is packed with features like Ultra Dark Mode for low light photography, AI HDR, AI Beauty mode and Portrait mode for both the front and rear cameras. For close-up photos, a special Macro Mode is present while both OIS and EIS are employed in Ultra Steady Mode for stabilised video recording. Audio Zoom will amplify the sound of the subject in focus when zoomed in on it.
Reno 2Z is equipped with a 6.53″ FHD+ AMOLED display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P90 SoC while Reno 2F runs on a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC having the same screen size as 2Z. Both devices share the same specifications as Reno 2 with the exception of the telephoto lens on the rear camera setup that has been replaced with a 2MP depth sensor. Another difference is the selfie lens comes in a normal pop-up module instead of the shark fin. All the devices run on the latest ColorOS 6.1 based on Android Pie featuring a new visual design, game space and gestures. The 4000mAh battery inside supports VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge tech.
