Samsung today unveiled its new smartwatch with a circular display. The Gear S2 is Samsung’s first smartwatch to sport a round dial and is undoubtedly, the most attractive one Samsung has ever created. Samsung will sell the Gear S2 in two editions – the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic where the regular Gear S2 will Samsung designed the Gear S2 to appeal to two distinct consumer preferences. The Gear S2 classic is made for users who prefer a more timeless watch design, offering an elegant Black finish with a matching genuine leather band. The Gear S2 is ideal for those who are on-the-go and have an admiration for minimal and modern design whereas the Gear S2 classic is targeted at users who prefer a timeless watch design with Black finish and a matching genuine leather band.
Gear S2 smartwatches also implement an innovative rotating bezel along with the Home and Back buttons that makes it faster and easier for the user to use the smartwatch.
As far as other features are concerned, the Tizen running Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic sports a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED 360×360 display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. Additionally, the water and dust resistant smartwatch comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, music player, heart rate sensor, up to 3 days of battery life, NFC for payments through Samsung Pay and eSIM support for the Gear S2.
Samsung hasn’t put a price on both the variants but expect to be on the same lines of Samsung’s Gear S. The Gear S2 will be available in a Dark Gray case with a Dark Gray band and Silver case with a White band while the Samsung Gear S2 classic will be available in a Black case with a Leather band.
