After various leaks and rumours, LG has finally unveiled the V20, which is the successor to the popular V10 smartphone. It is the first device to be using Android 7.0 Nougat OS out of the box. Physically, it may seem like the V20. A light aluminium body forgoes the toughness of its predecessor but LG claims to have gone for an aluminium AL6013 alloy, used to built aeroplanes and boats. The MIL-STD-810 compliance for shock resistance does indeed back up this claim.
The secondary display bar at the top of the display has a resolution of 160p and is able to support a signature of 24 characters in comparison to 14 in the old model, although the amount of notification icons and the clock are unchanged. The dual cameras at the back are quite feature-heavy, supporting laser and phase detection auto focus, optical image stabilisation and dual-LED flash. It is also the first smartphone to incorporate Qualcomm’s video stabilisation based on gyroscopes. It also uses image stream analysis for tracking a moving object and stabilising the video by referencing the object’s line of movement.
On the audio front, the V20 is able to capture loss-less 24bit/48kHz audio during video recording and is able to record upto 132dB sound without any degradation. Supporting loss-less playback, it also comes with four digital-to-audio converters, a 75-step fine volume and dedicated left/right balance control. The LG V20 is also capable of capturing loss-less 24bit/48kHz audio along with its videos, which can record extremely loud sound (up to 132dB) such as live music performances without degradation.
The V20 does not have a set price or release date for India but it is expected to hit the shores very soon.
