The Z series packs top-of-the-line hardware starting with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.2GHZ paired with 4GB RAM and internal storage options of 32GB or 64GB. On the front is a 5.5″ QHD AMOLED display with water resistant coating, a 5MP front camera with wide angle lens plus LED flash and fingerprint reader resting on the bezel. On the back is a 13MP rear camera featuring Optical Image Stabilization, laser autofocus and dual-tone LED flash. The Moto Z series is powered by a 2,600mAh battery supporting quick charge with a USB Type-C connector which will also be used for plugging in audio devices.
MotoMods were also announced which turn the Z series into modular devices much like the LG G5. Currently announced add-ons are JBL SoundBoost for louder sound, Insta-Share Project which turns the device into a portable projector and a Power Pack that adds upto 22 hours of backup. Style Shells are used to protect the back of the device. Available in real wood, leather and even patterned fabric, users can swap and choose at their leisure.
