A peek into a promising smart mirror prototype

February 5, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

Google software engineer Max Braun has developed a smart bathroom mirror that lets you see the time, weather and get the latest news updates when you’re brushing your teeth! His inspiration was sci-fi films and a lack of available products in the market that suited his need.

The UI is minimalistic with monochrome colours using simple Android APIs that cannot be interacted with but will instead use a voice search interface. The extremely thin display where the magic happens is embedded between the glass and cabinet door.

Currently the prototype is powered by a Amazon Fire TV stick and other unspecified modifications.

The smart mirror is still a work in progress and the creator will be posting a DIY of his hobby project soon. Further updates in the pipeline include traffic, reminders and other Google NOW compatible information.
