Huawei revealed the complete details, pricing and launch date of the Honor 6X for the Indian market today. Dubbed the SWAG phone, it finally brings a dual rear camera into the highly competitive mid segment.
The USP of the 6X is the dual rear camera setup making use of a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and a 2MP sensor for calculating the Depth of Field (DoF) with LED flash on the side. The depth focus can even be tweaked after the picture has been clicked to provide bokeh effects somewhere else. Below the rear camera is the fingerprint sensor that can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds. The display comes with 2.5D curved glass and a eye comfort mode that filters out harmful blue light, making it useful for long reading sessions.
The device runs on Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company stated a beta version of the new EMUI 5.0 build based on Android 7.0 Nougat will be available at launch while the final build has an estimated release window of Q2 2017. Confirming the commitment to the Make in India initiative, Honor 6X will be manufactured in India at the Chennai plant of Huawei.
The 3+32GB variant is priced at Rs.12,999 while the 4+64GB version costs Rs.15,999. Sold exclusively on Amazon India, the first sale for the 3+32GB model will take place on 2 February with registrations open to purchase the device. The 4+64GB model will be sold some time later in February at an unspecified date.
