MWC 16: Samsung reveals Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

Samsung put an end to months of rumours after unveiling the Edge series. The most notable changes include the return of the microSD slot, a lower MP rear camera with an improved sensor, IP68 water resistance, reduction from 3 models to 2 and support for “Always On” display.

The Galaxy S7 Edge has identical specs other than the larger 5.5” QuadHD Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440x2560p (534ppi), a bigger 3,600mAh battery, dimensions of 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm and weighs 157g.

Both devices will be sold from 11 March, 2016.

Samsung Galaxy S7 leaked video confirms certain features

Samsung Indonesia’s official Youtube channel appears to have gotten their unlisted video for the S7 revealed earlier than expected.

The commercial shows an Indonesian sportsperson training while using the S7. From the video, it seems that the smartphone is waterproof and a wireless charging pod was used. Rumours suggest the return of the microSD slot.

International preorders will be receiving the VR headset for free.

The phone will be available in atleast 3 colour options – silver, black and gold. The official unveiling will occour at the Mobile World Congress on 21 February.

Leaked pic provides a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S7

The first leaked image for the Samsung Galaxy S7 isn’t much but provides interesting information about it. The rear picture shows off a slimmer curved profile expected to house a bigger battery and a smaller camera bump in comparison to the older model. This might hint at a lower megapixel count for the camera but would be offset by an improved sensor.

Other rumours suggest a magnesium body, water resistance and the return of a microSD slot.

Expect to see even more leaks the closer we get to the Mobile World Congress 2016.
