Nokia made a very interesting comeback at Mobile World Congress 2017 with the announcement of various smartphones and the much beloved Nokia 3310. The refresh of the original device from 2000 has received a makeover to fit in the current world of 2017.
The new iteration features a rounded and rectangular shape that is familiar and yet different at the same time. The larger colour screen and lesser weight will certainly be welcome but no word on whether the legendary durability of the old device is present. Instead of relying on touch, the full physical keypad is present for input. There is no word on the processor and RAM present in the device other than the paltry storage that can be expanded with a memory card sold separately.
New owner HMD Global does claim that the removable battery offers upto 22.1 hours of talk time, 39 hours of FM radio, 51 hours of MP3 playback and 31 days of standby. Missing a front camera, the rear camera is equipped with flash. The iconic snake game also returns but has been built by Gameloft this time around. The device will be available in two variants allowing single or dual SIM cards. Something to note is how it will only work on 2G networks.
Announced for sale in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and most importantly India, the 3310 is priced at €49 with no Indian price announced but will be sold from Q2 2017.
