Ubisoft is offering Beyond Good & Evil as the free game this time around. Launched in 2003, the game was directed by Michael Ancel who is also the creator of the Rayman series.
The third person action/adventure blended various genres including puzzles, photo capture, stealth and lite-dungeon crawling. While it received highly favourable reviews, the game was commercially a flop but has since earned cult classic status thanks to a legion of dedicated fans. They have since been clamouring for a sequel since the game ended on a cliffhanger.
Rumblings of a new game started gaining momentum when a teaser and a short gameplay section set in India were leaked in 2008 but everything went radio silent again. Now, after 8 years of dormancy, Ubisoft and Michael Ancel are teasing a part-prequel/part sequel coming in 2018. According to the unconfirmed rumours, it will be a semi-reboot fleshing out the past of the protagonists Jade and Pey’J while later on picking up from where the last game ended.
